Taking apart the rear sights

I did it twice, and cannot do it again. Is there a step by step instruction for disassembling these?

Mine are completley uncalibrated and when I adjust windage the sight is not stable at all. What I've done is that i've left it completley centered and tightened it up real good, but now I can't get the knobs off! they seem to unscrew but they don't, all I want to do is really just have the sights calibrated for the markings on the distance knob.

Instructions on how to use the sights, and how to calibrate/assemble them would be great.

Or if someone knows of some nice match sights that are of much better quality than the norcs and hold well, let me know.

Don't pull your Kommunist Xhinese sights apart unless:

A) You have a backup pair of M1 Garand sights (just an elev & windage knob will do)
B) You don't need the pot metal, cheap Zhit sights for a while
C) You have installed a scope mount, rings and good glass
D) You are a closet masochist and thrive on frustrating experiences
E) You heard that if you cannot disassemble them, yer #### will fall off

Okay, joke aside, the cheap, "soft as dog shzt" metal components are not reliable and hence premature stripping happens lots. They are not dependable.

What do you want for nothing ? Remember that you paid $ 400 for the receiver and all the extra stuff hanging on the receiver is a bonus. Now it just so happens that the barrel and bolt actually fire. Consider ourselves lucky that we can buy these rifles for $ 399. Go and tell yer 'Merican cousins that!!

I never bothered to check and measure the threads on my Trazier M14 sights vs the Norinco sights, the Garand windage knob threads properly into the Norinco sight base block?

I took them off because there was freakin packing grease/oil seaping out of them, and when I turned them it was gritty and grinding with some unkown foreign matter inside! lol, cleaned em out good.

Still though, where can I get some decent sights, would really like to pay some decent money for some match iron sights, I really don't have a desire to put a scope on this rifle.

"...adjust windage the sight is not stable..." The screws get loosened, the sight is adjusted then the screws are re-tightened. If the sight can't be tightened, you likely need a new screw.
"...for some match iron sights..." Gunparts has the NM front sight(thinner blade. .062" instead of .072" wide) for an M1A. You'll need a NM rear aperture(the hole is smaller. Two sizes. .052" and .0595".) too. That, they don't have. Fulton does though. They have both front and rear(no front sight screw included. It's a buck, but don't forget to get one) About $70US plus shipping. Don't know if they'll ship to Canada though.

Don't mention anything about M14. M14 parts are restricted for export by the U.S. M1A and M1 rifle parts are not.
