A couple times at least on this board I have tried to encourage folks to use a certain un nanmed import service to bring legal antiques across the border.

I recently attempted to use this company to perform a simple importation that I have handled my self a half dozen times (same make, same cal, etc etc).

I have just had a most unsatisfactory experience with this company and am certain that they are not well versed enough with the regulations to perform this service. (contrary to my earlier reccomendations)

I there fore with draw my reccomendation and instead would encourage any one wishing to import legal antiques to Canada to do the following on thier own:

READ THE REGULATIONS and do it your self.

If you have any questions or concerns

Call the CFC and talk to them, Call Canada Border Service Agency and talk to them. The regulators will tell you the truth and happily guide you through the process. They will also not treat you like a crimminal or pretend they know what they do not know.

I am sure these guys know all about AR high cap magazines and other black gun stuff but they don't know Antiques.

I apologise if my earlier reccomnedations to use this company caused any one to have thier gun unfairly destroyed.

Lets just say i have seen some correspondence and they dont know the Diffrence between 45 ACP and 45 Colt. :eek:

Yet they Import guns into Canada for people.

Get a job at safeway selling Fruit if you cant tell these are two diffrent calibers.

Glad i never had the QUEST to Import thru such a Star Company LOL ;)

Really not impressed no wonder i figgered things out for myself.
 
Here is some more advice: Always listen to Dingus when he tells you not to do bussiness with someone. I did'nt listen and it turned my fun and recreation into stress and unpleasantness. Almost cost me a grand and the chance to own a very signifigant piece of British Martial History.

This stuff is suppose to be enjoyable and be a way to make friends and learn some history and skills. To bad for me that this one turned into a train wreck.

It's good to know that you guys are still giving excellent advice at a very good price.:D

yep all opinions/advice are still 2 cents apiece wether I know what I am talking about or not LOL. Truth available for half price!

I suppose I've come in too late in the conversation to know who we're all talking about, but I thought I'd let y'all know these things.

I've had an international company which I suspect is the same one you're all discussing, bring in "modern" (some moreso than others) pistols from the U.S for me. I've never been disappointed, and in fact have had very positive (although certainly expensive) experiences in doing so.

However, I've also brought in antiques from the U.S. I've never used anyone else to do that because the process is very straightforward and relatively simple (even I can do it). If you get an "antique" ruling from CFC, it really is easiest to bring in the piece on your own.
 
MTF you are exactly right.

One question for you the end user agreement you signed what is your opinion of what you promised the united states government?

i.e that you will never sell or give the items (pistols)to any one else in or out of Canada with out written permmission from the USA?

I keep re reading sec 7 of the end user agreement and can't believe what I suspect to be true!

I have seen it and its like the CIA or NAZIs are involved.:rolleyes:

Looks like a recipe to end up in a Cuban Prison camp :p

of State, we will not re-export, resell, or otherwise dispose of any of those articles/data (1) outside the country in item 4 above, or (2) to any other

Take it with me....good idea. I always wanted a holster and scabbord in my coffin. The games that Governments play with our minds. There has to be a better way. I tried to buy a rifle from Salter which he bought at a New Brunswick gun show. He had taken it stateside within a week and told me I would have to go through Questar....fat chance on that!!! Better than not buying from him is not to sell to him in the first place....sell it here.

Heck with that I am opting for imortality.

Salter must have shares in Questar now, cause he used to ship up here. I understand when a USA dealer is in not up to speed on Canadian Firemarms laws but Salter definetley knows the score. He just does'nt want to foster Canadian interest in Antiques cause then he looses his cheap source of our heritage. We are a source not a market to him.


Odd cause I know he is always happy to take a gun he is interested in to the USA in exchange for leaving one/shipping one here.
