I noticed the front sight on my K98 has a sort of rivet or something that stops the front sight from moving forward. To remove the hood I have to drill one side to take this bar out. Where can I get a replacement bar though?

Sounds like the Czech site hood mod. It's a simple roll pin, you could probably even punch it out...

This is obviously an Israeli K98k? The pins as you mentioned are riveted in place and not removable.
You can however, remove the hood with the pin in place. I've done it many times even with nos Israeli hoods. You need a good pair of snap ring pliers like the Blue Point part #PR-34A that I have and then wrap the jaws in electrical tape to prevent marring of the metal. The hood will have to come off towards the rear of the sight obviously and it's a tight fit but it should come off without ruining the pin.
So many Israeli hoods are missing the pin and I'm assuming this is because people used the wrong technique to remove the hoods and either broke the pin or drilled it out.
