TAKING RESTRICTED FIREARMS TO THE RANGE

If I remember correctly, someone was shooting sea gulls ,windows, etc .
So they banned pellet guns.

But one should always check city by-Laws.. you never know… and wildlife act
I remember when the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had to carry their sidearm in the trunk of their car while on duty. Then not long after they were allowed to carry them in a holster on their duty belt they ended up shooting someone armed with a butter knife in Corner Brook.

Yes , mental guy with a butter knife and several years ago they got another guy with a spatula , same town! lol
In her defence though , he was a big guy.

I'm surprised it's even allowed. Grab a hold of that and you have complete control of them with one hand.
It's a bit of a misnomer. Their petite size has more to do with their ability to successfully fight than a pony tail does. Think about all the fist fights you've either been in or witnesses where someone grabbed a hold of the others hair. Did that in of itself turn the tide, or was there then a brief burst of teeth and toenails flashing and then they separated? My experience is the latter. Some hair may get yanked out, but you can't control someone by grabbing their hair.

There are all kinds of cultural examples of ornate warrior hairstyles. Below are the Suebi people. If piling ones hair made for an effective handle, why would people with the social position of warrior wear such hairstyles?

So you're saying a man couldn't wrap a woman pony tail up in one hand, while wailing on her with his right first?

Of course that could happen, more often than not it doesn't though. Not for people who know how to fight.

Below is a good example of exactly what I'm talking about. Beware, it's violent, course language etc., and ends with a pistol whipping, but note what happens (it always happens) the hair lets go. Below, the guys hair is even braided, and it still lets go. When in a fight for life and death, either grabbing someones hair to control them, or having ones hair grabbed in an attempt to control, will be unsuccessful very quickly.

Yupp.

I don't know ANYONE who has ever been asked for it though. I don't carry it. If I get in trouble so be it, I know the risk I'm taking.
I just made a photo copy ,along with copies of the certs, and stuck them in a envelope in the range bag, been there for ?? years.
original stuff stays in the safe or file cabinet at home no big deal, not that I have ever been asked, only time was years ago when asked at a gun show in Calgary if I had a ATT, as it happened one of the few times I did have. Calgary seems to be full of liberal cops, or gun haters.

No it's not. Guns in a rack in the back window of your truck is perfectly legal.

Now, obviously how the public and police react to that is going to be different if you're in Vancouver vs Vanderhoof, but that doesn't change the legality of it.
This thread is about restricted firearms.

Which is also a "potential" problem.

The law enforcement officer "can" demand an original document to ensure accuracy and it hasn't been changed, tampered with, edited, photo shopped etc.

I have recently returned back from Europe to Canada and I want to make sure I understand the new laws correctly. If someone wants to take a restricted firearm to the range today, are they able to do so, or not? Can they take the restricted firearm to the range freely without an application or do they need an ATT in order to do so? In the past, if I recall correctly, being a member of a local gun range, would automatically give you the ATT right on all your firearms.
Take care to ensure the firearm(s) in question are in fact 'restricted' (and have not been changed by the CFP to 'prohibited' category), because there have been a lot of classification changes, and - unless you happen to know - you might be unaware.

Take care to ensure that you have a valid 'Authorization To Transport' ('ATT') to make the trip legal. You either have a piece of paper that expressly allows it, or you don't; if you don't have it, you need to get it before you go anywhere.

May I Take my son handgun to the Range ?
No att if he comes with you, if you want to go without him and bring his handgun/s he will need to set up a lending borrowing att with the cfo.

He has to initiate it with the cfo, they will contact you as well. In BC they will do a lending/borrowing ATT for up to 6 months.

one big change , you may know already, while you can use his handgun, you can't buy it now or sell him one of yours.
Travel with guns have not really changed much in the last few years, as long as you , or your son has a Att .
If you go out of province, then you need one that covers that, but some people do have ATT's that cover more then one province.

You should check the special conditions paper that came with your last license renewal, things have changed a bit. You used to be able to borrow a restricted firearm and go to any range in your home province if it was registered at the same residence, say your spouse’s or child that lives at home. Now it says specifically firearms registered to you, you can still borrow a restricted firearm but the owner has to call in and request to do so and get the att for the person borrowing it.
