Tales of a Lee Enfield Carbine refurb (DONE!)

One thing aboiut LE carbines is unlike the smle, the carbine has only one spring clip to hold the forend on. I sent a smle handguard double clip to the guy who did mine and he did a bit of surgery on it.

OOPS I meant the RIC carbine handguard

Hi everyone,

Well, after many months (or years for that matter!) I finished work on CGN member Gary's Lee Enfield Carbine. Here are some pics:

Making the handguard from scratch is what took me the most time. A very, very interesting project. Thanks Gary for having trusted me with this fine rifle!

Great job putting a fine old rifle back to its form. You do very nice work. I always am in awe of people who can do work like this. I am a champion sawdust and firewood maker.:p

Nice work, lots of work involved.
I am working on a MkII Long Lee-Metford I think I have a fore-stock lined up, it might be from a Long Lee-Enfield No1 Mk1 including all the metal.
I am going to need a mag with a loop, and top wood.
The spring clips on the No1 MkIII are too close together when I compare to the clips on my Long Lee-Enfield.
There should be a fairly easy way to adapt it to the gun.

Beautiful work Lou. I'd like to attempt that with my LEC sometime but I have never been able to find a nosecap for the little rascal yet.

I was very fortunate in finding a front band and nosecap on the market at the same time the LEC came up for sale from a completely unrelated source. Great fortune continued when Lou agreed to take on the project for me. Truly wonderful work.

Thanks everyone, especially for not seeing too many of the defects or historical inaccuracies :)

I wonder what I will be tackling next. Hopefully a .45acp Lee Enfield, I hope the blued barrels get into CGN's JuanValdez' hands soon! ;)
