Talk me into an unnecessary purchase

Just buy it. Every second that goes by, you're getting closer to being bed-ridden with a diaper dull of crap... live your life right now!
LOL!! Ain't that the truth, and my biggest problem has always been getting talked OUT of an unnecessary purchase,I have absolutely no trouble at all getting myself talked into one.At least when it comes to guns that is.

For my hunting guns I have a 30-30 and a 308. Both are tack drivers and I love them.
But...
In true gun nut fashion, I want a Marlin 1895sbl 45-70 but can't really justify it. They're beautiful (and damn expensive) and the cartridge has a mystique that just won't let me go.

Clearly the 45-70 isn't going to fill a void in my hunting folder. Should I bother?
Am I obsessing? Will this pass?

You guys are only ever on the "buy it" team, so let's see if you can push me over the edge.

I disagree. The .45-70 fills the void of killing something behind a large tree... And killing whatever is standing behind that too. ;)

if memory serves... the .45/70 is the oldest continually produced cartridge... so think of it as a historical piece that looks beautiful and makes a great camp / backpack / hunting rifle

22 rimfire holds that title.
I am realy "Jones'n" for a Pedersoli 86/71 in 45-70! Marstar has them for somewhere around 1500.00.

I bought a .308 rifle earlier today and this big bore talk has me itching again already.... Love/hate relationship with all you great CGNers.

Please post pics of the Marlin when available.
