Talk me out of a Colt 6920 Socom.

6920 SOCOM is a great buy. 1999$ rail and rear sight included. These are shooting carbines, not safe queens. They may or may not have assembly marks and scuffs and may have a looser fit, which is within spec. Colt barrels are accurate for CL barrels, but the 16" SOCOM is heavy. Not a issue for some, but when you have it hanging off of you for 8 hrs on a carbine course you may notice it.

Nothing to talk you out of, great carbines.

Go hard. Get the 6940.

Done, the LE6920 Socom will come in as soon as the CFOs are done with paperwork.

Now I have to research mags. I want some 5/30 and LAR15.
What brands ?

A,B,C, always buy Colt. So you could find an equal quality AR for less; but then it wouldn't be a Colt!

You can get better than MilSpec, so the issue becomes a law of diminishing returns.

To the OP: Is a $1500 AR a lot better than a $500 AR? Yes. Is it 3 x better? Probably not. Is a KAC twice as good as a $1500 Daniel Defense? Is a piston-based HK twice as good as a KAC? Buy the best that you can reasonably afford, keeping in mind that often you are far-from-done once you have the AR in hand. Flashlight? Optics? Grips?

I like the Daniel Defence lineup because they generally come with upgraded components already, so arguably all you need to add to it is your site.

The question I had a few months ago was 6920 SOCOM or 6940 with monolithic upper? Then I bought another 308AR. Still wondering though which model is better. It seemed each had it's own strong points.

The only downside to the Socom is the cost and the bait and switch they did on the rails. I ordered one as well and got it but disappointed that it came with Troy rails instead of the KAC rails.

In the end they keep there value and are well built but you spent $500 for the roll mark and heavy barrel and got ripped off $200 due to the troy rail.

Again not putting it down as I did the same and content with it. It is just reality you pay more for a Volvo then you do a Hyundai.

I don't judge others rifles.

I have the incomes to buy the name.
I understand that the return is less as the price increase.
There is something with Colt that I like.

I already own 2 Pythons, one 6 inches 73 nickeled that I shot less than 100 rounds , and 8 inches 81 Royal blue with 6 rounds thru the pipe.

Just wish that the one that I bought is the same quality has the handguns. It may end as a safe queen but I doubt it.

Ain't gonna happen sorry to let you down! I called around about a month ago there's has the Troy. The only people that might have the KAC is Irunguns!

Thanks T
