never thought of a 27-284, that would be pretty sweet, any ideas what realistic velocities would be with that in a 130grn bullet? likely around the same 3000fps range? likely need custom dies for that one instead of just being able to use neck sizer dies and a seater from a 270 win set with the 270 ai?
If all you want is a hot rod look into the 270 stw, 270-26 nosler, some sort of 270 rum, 270-375 ruger as has already been mentioned, or something along the lines of a 270-300 wby. these will all need modifications to your rifle or a new donor rifle would be easier but they should all run 3400-3500+ fps with the nosler likely being the slowest topping out around 3400

Just need the bushing and use a 6.5-284 bushing die, they seat with a regular 270win seater. I get close to 2900 with a 165gn Vld.
I'm not sure that a 270-284 reamer would clean up the original chamber. Probably have to set the barrel back if there is enough meat in that area. the advantage of the 270 RCBS and AI is that you can still fire factory ammo in the chamber. And as you pointed out, you can get by with just a 270 neck sizing for a long time. All the other choices get more expensive and more complex. - dan
