So Tradex recently added a bunch of 6.5 x 55's mostly in m96's. Here's some of my questions but I will gladly take any info into consideration.

What will the twist likely be on them?

Will the throat be so long, due to those round nose broom handle bullets they used, that it will be difficult to get close to the lands?

Will one of these be a good choice to make a sub moa rifle out of?

I totally understand that it will be luck of the draw for accuracy, but just wonder if it's a reasonable expectation.

Thanks in advance.

Twist is 200mm (7.85") if it's the military barrel
The throats are long, but you can reach the lands with 140gr. bullets.
Barrels are usually quite good, but one of the CG63 rifles would ve a better starting point for a really accurate rifle.

Look for one that has some professional looking gunsmithing done to it, I got this 1899 Obie '96 from the last batch ($300) and it's sub-moa with factory PRVI 139's even with the military trigger. I've since added a Dayton trigger and loaded some ammo to try out but haven't got back to the range yet.

These 2 look pretty good.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it.
I'm sure looking hard at these. One of the ones Hitzy listed was one I already had my eye on. The other is gone I think.

*correction: they both still available

Well I finally decided on this one.

who makes aftermarket stocks for these?
i'm looking at the 96 since i can't find any 98's in 6.5x55
would like to put in synthetic stock since it would be actually used not stared at

B&C for synthetic, Boyds for laminate or walnut.
If you want a '98 in 6.5x55, look at the S&L M69 lineup at Tradex.

I picked up a sweet one with military barrel when they first posted them and after they added more I had to grab another with a commercial barrel. I keep going back and fear that one more may be calling to me!
