thinking of picking one of these for christmas

my question is, how far can these things pick up a deer? I will be using it mostly for bowhunting( almost strictly) but want to know in case I do take it boom boom hunting.

anyways let me know, so far( and I havn't looked far) S.I.R has the best prce, allthough wholesale has one going for $10 cheaper but, its not enough to warrant buying there since I have dealt with S.I.R in the past.

anywheer else I should check?

I bought James one last year.....great for ranging your truck or a building out to about 800yds, but for deer I have only been successful out to about 250yds....non reflective target is poor.FYI.

$350 seems a bit steep considering i paid $280 taxes included from lebarons here in ontario. ;)

i guess they are an ok unit but id highly recomend buying a better one if you can. it is a small and easy unit to use but sometimes it just wont give the range of things. the farthest ive used mine on deer is 400+ yards and it only took 2 tries to range the small doe.

for anything under 200 yards it works mint though....

I have a Yardage Pro, it is the compact model that is water-proof and supposedly good for up to 800 yards. The optics are junk. Save your $ and get a Swarovski or Leica.
