talley lightweight one piece mounts/

Would help to know what you're putting them on.

Not really cause i have 5 sets and there all basically the same. with different screw hole widths of course. but every rifle i put them on i take them out of the box and both mounts are the same size and height. with the same number stamped on each. i just thought the back one should be slightly higher . they work for the most part but i have had a few issues where i ran out of elevation before my rifle was at zero.

Can they go facing each other , and facing away from each other just to suit scope eye relief position , or do they go on pointing the same direction? Maybe I am overthinking it but i just want to make sure i am not tweaking my scope . I guess i could just lap them to be sure. Just more curious than anything else because it doesnt say in the directions.

I don't think you're talking about one-piece mounts but rather single ring mounts.

Some of them have an MOA incline so you have to put the thicker one in the back with the incline of both always sloping down toward the front of the rifle. There is an arrow at the inside bottom of the ring showing the direction they both need to face, toward the front of the rifle.

For rings with zero MOA you can mount them facing either way since they are both level.

It really depends on what rifle you are talking about. Quite a few have different contour at the back of the receiver than the front has and some have a different height.
