Would you trust these rings on heavy recoiling 7 lb rifles?
I've used them on smaller lightweight stuff but never on big calibres
Comments?
Thanks

I shoot a Tikka T3 Superlite in 7mm Rem Mag (6lb 6oz) and I have Talley rings holding on my Vortex Viper HS-T 6-24x50. They have worked great so far, I have no complaints. It hasn't lost its zero once in the 400+ rounds I've put through it. I would definitely trust Talley to handle heavier recoiling guns.

Had a LW Talley ring break on my 700Ti in 300SAUM(and no it wasn't abused and they were mounted correctly). Used them lots over the years but never will again. There are far better ring/base combos out there.

Interesting. What part broke? Was it the mounting screws or something else?

The base cracked. I have a picture, somewhere...

Steel rings and bases only for me now, even on my lightweights. Mainly S&K's or Leupold DD's but I do have steel Talley split rings on a few as well.

I had the Talley ring mounts on a Kimber 338 Win for awhile . Took it out grizzly hunting in Alaska and when I got it home two screws that hold the cap on were sheared off. Still scratching my head over that one, but since I can't trust it anymore I swapped them out for double dovetails. That also enabled the scope to be moved another 1/2" forward, something I could use anyway.

The base screws backed out (like, flopping around barely threaded into the action) on my Talley LWs on my Stevens 200 30-06. Had no idea until I jerked the scope to sell the rifle. The accuracy had never changed nor POI shifted so I guess that says a lot about my old Burris Signature 3-9x.

Thanks for the replies. I see these gunworks guys on tv, mounting big long range scopes with talley light weights. I was surprised...

But anyways, I tried them on an all in 7lb10 oz 300 Weatherby I acquired. I'm going to put some rounds through it and see.

Thanks again.
