I see these on sale for 950$- regularly priced at 1450$, I like the Tanfoglio alot but should i'm torn between it and a sig 226.
 
Are you guys considering these for IPSC by chance? I am looking at both of these guns as well. Tough call. Any users here who can add from experience??
 
I was using a P226 for IPSC for the first 1.5 years and then switched to a Stock 2. The P226 has a higher bore-axis which results in more muzzle flip. Also I have smaller hands and the P226 grips, while not huge, are certainly not small. You have the option of getting thinner aluminum grips for the Stock. The trigger reset on the SIG is longer than the Tanfoglio. The cost for mags is cheaper for the Stock than the P226. Although you can shop around and sometimes find used SIG mags easier than Tanfoglio mags.
I have no issues with the SIG P226, I would love to have one as my service pistol. But if you are wanting to get one for IPSC, then the Tanfoglio is the better option. And that is an excellent price on the Stock
I realize you are asking about the Stock and I have stated I bought the Stock 2, I will say the differences aren't great. The Stock 2 was about 150 grams heavier. And it was likely in the front end due to the full length dust cover.
I suggest you talk to Sean at Freedom Ventures. He's excellent to deal with and knows his product well.
 
The stock II is a large frame gun and the Stock is a small frame gun. Both are all steel construction and have hammer forged polygonal rifled barrels, which are very accurate and will shoot cheap plated bullets very well. If you want to shoot lead out of them you can do so will little or no leading in the bore.

Ambidextrous safety, adjustable sights, checkering on front and back strap, etc. etc..... These guns have everything you need built in, and the price is a steal.
 
I carried a sig p226 as my secondary weapon for a few years. These are amazing pistols but the Tanfoglio has me interested. It is a very refined pistol. Any more comments?
 
The Stock is very close to my Tanfoglio "L" model. I shoot lead exclusively out of the gun and never have yet experienced any leading.

The one comment I will make is the Tanfoglios have heavy triggers in D/A...or at least mine does. Ths CZ Shadow is renowned for it's smooth light D/A pull. While both are excellent guns I would favour the CZ Shadow for Production. Both guns are very good, but the CZ offers more options. If you want to use the gun in IDPA SSP Division the Shadow will make the 39 oz. weight limit while the stock won't.

the recoil characteristics of the Stock/ stock2 are much better than the sig,...the grip is also MUCH more comfortable. I like the mag pad options for the tanfoglio's,...(rubber,..plastic or aluminum). The Stock....stock2 are actually quite reliable.
 
Ok, so I can get a new sig p226 for 995$ and a new Stock for 950$ -whats the better deal? I really want the tanfoglio but i have depended on the sig before and feel torn. I dont shoot ipsc. I just want another excellent gun for the range.
 
I have the Tan Stock,(not the stock 2,but the older stock with the shorter dust cover).I use it for IPSC production.Ive been extremely happy with it,Ive put about 15K of rounds through it,and it has still to malfunction.Probably its closest competitor is the CZ sp01 shadow,which in itself is a very nice gun,but personally,for $950,the Tan is a better gun.Its got adjustable sights,checkered front and backstrap and a hardchromed finish.I also like the bull barrel which makes it very soft shooting.I also think that the Tans are better made and finished than the cz's(Ive had 3 Cz's over the years).The tans do have heavier triggers than the CZ's,but these smooth out with a bit of use

Ive never owned a sig 226 before,but if you get into ipsc,the stock would be better suited to that game.Still,nothing wrong with a sig for range work

Ive looked at the stock2,which has some really nice features,but I dont think that they make up for the huge price difference from the stock going at $950 which is a heck of a deal
 
Do the 9mm Stock's (not the Stock 2) still have the problem with the slides cracking? I know of a couple of shooters that have had it replaced 3 or 4 times.

I have had my TZ75 for "Donkey Years" and it is a great gun. Mine will shoot the pants off any CZ75 I have owned or shot and that is a large number; the trigger pull on mine is also better than a CZ. I am not sure if this is true of all TZs but it is valid for mine. My only complaint with the TZ75/CZ75 desingn is the slide doesn't give you a lot to grab when racking the slide. I have just got my Tanfoglio Stock from Freedom Ventures. This gun is a thing of beauty. Solid fit, good trigger, amazing finish. At the special price they offer (and an excellent customer service) it is a steal.

I am sure that the closest CZ to Stock (CZ 75B in stainless) is a good gun, but it looks like the Tanfolgio's poor East European cousin. And I can say that as I am East European :).
