Tanfoglio Force 22L or Grand Power K22s?

Trying to find a full size 22LR pistol for practice (not a dedicated target shooting gun - I already have S&W 22a-1 Deluxe and I am very happy with it).

Can't choose between Tanfoglio Force 22L or Grand Power K22s - both are nice, both have pros and cons, both are not reviewed much. Perhaps I'll end up buying both :cool:

  • built on same frames as their bigger bore siblings
  • look good
  • relatively uncommon
  • info is scarce

Tanfoglio Force 22L
Pros
  • fully adjustable rear sight
  • adjustable trigger overtravel
  • compatible with my Jericho 941 so I can use one slide on another gun
Cons
  • aluminum slide
  • costs $50 more

Grand Power K22s
Pros
  • steel slide
  • costs $50 less
  • looks a bit better
Cons
  • rear sight is not adjustable
  • no trigger overtravel adjustment

Does anybody have first-hand experience with any of that guns?
 
What kind of practice are you going to do? I find that it's great to have a .22LR in a similar platform to my IPSC gun. Let's me re-use the same holster setup, and I can practice my draw and transition from DA to SA because it's almost the same trigger group and feel. For me that's a K22 X-Trim. In hind sight, I may have gone with the K22S, it's cheaper and a little more flexible with ammo choices. Do like the look of the X-Trim though, matches the look of my X-Caliburs.
 
Well, I am talking about general shooting practice for both me and my wife. Posture, grip, trigger control, etc. I just want to shoot something more similar to military/police style pistol than S&W 22-a1 with a target grip, and cheaper to shoot than my Jericho 941.

Nothing too serious.

But I appreciate if the gun is made well, so this is important too.
 
In hindsight, I've have definitely gone with the K22S over the K22 X-Trim. My X-Trim pisses me off much of the time. It's now happy with 7 rounds max of CCI AR Tactical ammo. As soon as I change the ammo brand or load 8+ rounds in the mags, reliability drops off. Maybe one day it'll get sorted.
 
I definitely consider K22s over the K22 X-Trim, I like more both price :) and looks.

Regarding reliability, I am not sure they can be much different. Usually problems like that can be localized and solved, in contrast to cracked slide or shooting patterns.
 
The X-Trim slide is much heavier than the K22S slide so the K22S slide will function with a wider variety of ammo. I didn't know that when I bought mine, in fact, I was led to believe the opposite.
 
jimbo14 and I have last years series K-22 X-Trim. The new ones being brought into dealers now have extra cutouts in the slide to further reduce the weight. I'm hearing that people are able to cycle a wider variety of ammo reliably. I've got mine working reliably with CCI Minimags and Blazer, both in 40gr round nose. I did have to work on the mags a bit to (smooth the mag follower, shorten the mag spring, ....). Dlask still has some at $16 though, so they are still pretty inexpensive.

What do you think about GP's trigger?

After reading that thread mentioned above, it looks like K22s in not reliable enough, so it would be to annoying for me, especially when shooting with my wife. Especially when I have my S&W 22a-1 with which I have very rare problems (like 1 in 300-400 or even more rounds), and which is super accurate.

Too bad there are no Tanfoglio Force 22L users, perhaps I'll be the first one.

The newer GP's might be better????

The trigger on my X-Trim is very nice. Same with the grip. It's a wonderful gun to hold and shoot as long as you're using the right ammo and for me, I need to pretend I live in New York with a 7-round limit. lol!

One example of the nice trigger is that last week at 9 yards, I was rapid firing my 7-rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger and keeping the group width to about 2" wide max.
