I was wondering how folks' experience has been with the Tanfoglio "L". How are the sights, accuracy and trigger pull? I'm especially curious about longer range accuracy--say from 25m to 50m. How does it compare with other similar 9mm pistols like the Glock 17 or Beretta 92?

Tanfoglio L experience

I have a Tanfoglio L. Great pistol, all steel, built solid, fits my hand well. I learned with a Glock 17 and the L is way better. The controls are easy to reach and use with my medium sized hands, the iron sights are good and the balance is great for a relatively heavy pistol. My IPSC buddies at the range all liked the feel and shot well with it, so Tanfoglio must be doing something right.
The stock D/A trigger has some free play and over travel. Nothing that can't be fixed by a gunsmith or if you're good at tinkering with things. Accessories are not available everywhere, but Freedom Ventures can get factory stuff.
It shoots great with factory ammo, but doesn't always cycle properly with light reloads, probably due to the heavier slide than the CZ. So if you're reloading, don't try to save too much powder.
My club range is 25 yards and I'm no expert shot, but I got my groups twice as tight than the Glock 17. At 30ft my groups are less than 2", 50ft they're less than 4". Let's just say that the pistol is more accurate than I am right now. I found 124gr rounds give the best accuracy, 115gr came second, and 147gr a close third.
Try to find a dealer that has one, if you like the feel of it, you'll probably be happy. Tanfoglio also makes a .22LR conversion that you can order if you want to save money on ammo.
