I am about to purchase one or the other of these two pistols for IPSC Production - I also shoot IDPA and know the SP-01 willl not be allowed in IDPA - have a CZ 85 Combat for IDPA.

Has anyone have any experiece with these two pistols and has compared the guns? Thoughts on the HArd Chrome version offerred by Tanfoglio

well I shoot the SP01 and handled the Tanfoglios a cpuple of weeks ago. didn't shoot them though, and even if I did it would not be a fair comparison , a new gun vs a shot-in pistol.

However the Tanfoglios seemed well built, good quality pistols. The "L" model is more comparable to the CZ85 though. The Stock is a better comparison to the SP01. heavier barrel, more competition touches. A point to the Tanfoglios is that the really nice basepads they sell seem to be legal in production division (global village discussion), which is a real advantage with all the reloads we do.

looking at the descriptions on the FV website... I don't see any huge difference between L and the Stock... not to be worth the $500 price difference?

does it have the trigger spring and slide stop problem?
I could say "NO", but I'd rather be honest and say "I don't know, but doubt it as I have not heard of any through Tanfoglio". And yes, I do stock parts if someone ever needs them.

My pistol is infamous now.

How is the trigger on the Stock and L model? Aboust same or is the Stock model a little lighter? Just curious...

These are very common problem with CZ, read the CZ forums. Its a non issue if you maintain your pistol properlly and change parts frequently.

My trigger spring is affected by improper maintenance or should I change it every thousand or so?
You should get tens of thousands of rounds out of the CZ/Tan/DE etc. trigger springs. Other than cleaning, I can't think o fany other maintenence it could require.

one comment: the L has a 4.75" barrel, NOT 5" like it says on the FV website... Other than that, it's a really nice gun. I'll post more info once I shoot it a lot ;)

Any speed holsters for it? I think I can make it fit my CR Speed, any other options? Is there is a JR Micro that fits it? Thanks
