Tanfoglio mag issues

I have some Tanfo mags that have the Rubber base pads on them. Every time I reload and one of them hit the ground the whole rubber pad and base plate pop loose. Some time flying right off.

Anybody have this issue?? What is the remedy??

Most mags of that style have a retaining pad with a raised button matching a hole in the pad. Is yours missing, or not locked in place?

No it is there. If I try and slide the bases off it will not move. Just something with the force they are hitting the ground with that makes them pop loose.

Use smaller threaded screws to secure the rubber base pad. Mine never fall off.
 
I had this problem with my CZ magazines (old style full length metal body, longer follower and rubber base bad).

The button in the metal plate that protruded into the hole in the base pad was too shallow and would pop out if it hit the ground with enough force.

I just took a punch and hammered the buttom out a bit deeper - problem solved.

Sounds like when the base pads were installed on the steel base, not enough material was removed from around / under the locking protrusion on the rubber.

When the mag hits the ground, the base pad is possibly bouncing that prorusion back into the mag?

I thought of that as well, But that just isn't the cases. The more I use them the more hate them. I really didn't like having to modify them myself either. Is there anything else available here in canada. Using a drill bit to make a hole for disassembly really was a mess. I was going to buy new ones of the CZ custom sight but am not 100% sure what I need.

You can't be putting them on correctly,...or the little notch that keeps the metal plate on (that the rubber pad is screwed to) is not staying in the hole in the metal plate. Simple fix is to just make the hole a little larger. I think maybe one mag I had was this way and I had a slight issue. Really nothing to it. I tried Slavex's hole in the rubber base pad mod but found I made a mess of the pad. Just use the screws and put the extra 10 seconds into removing the pads to clean the inside of the mag. Don't get fustrated and buy new stuff, as this is really an easy to fix problem.

Maurice, I will try that. I will drill the hole a little bigger. where were you when I posted on how to do this 2 months ago. So, you take your bases off to clean your mags? Man I would've rather done that then make a mess like I did.

or,...take the screw you want to replace to a hardware store and ask for something a tad smaller, take the plate with you.
 
ok which pads are these? the ones that are designed to go onto the steel plate with two screws? but you glued or epoxied them on instead? if that's the case, don't make the hole any larger in the middle, just make sure there is no material from the glue, epoxy or rubber protruding into the hole in the center. If so, drill it out. If it's still a problem, then use one screw, at the front of the pad (the way it comes off), to keep it from popping off.
