Just picked one up in a trade, from everything I can find it seems like a nice gun.. What are your guys opinion on them?

Very nice. It is popular gun for ipsc production. I was waffling between that and a cz canadian, but i opted to save a few bucks and was a sucker for the aluminum grips with the flag. i still want to get one down the road. They only thing i've 'read' (don't know first hand) is that little trigger work out of the box is recommended but in general, very highly regarded.

Best ipsc production gun. Pretty expensive so not as popular as a CZ shadow. Bull barrel is much more accurate. The non extreme version does need a good trigger job and lighter springs. I love mine

Tanfoglio is my choice always, They require a little more care and tuning to run properly, but once you work out all the gremlins they become an extension of you and are hard to beat

I've tested one beside my CZ Shadowmate. Both the Stock II Extreme owner and I found my Shadowmate a tad more accurate from a sand bag from 10 to 40 meters with a bunch of different ammo we had on hands even if the Tanfo have a polygonal rifling & bull barrel.

A few things I prefer on the Tanfo; the adjustable rear sight, my shadowmate has a better sight picture with the rear f/o sight though, just wish it was adjustable not a deal breaker, the front/back grip checkering is great, waaayyy better than the stock CZ, I needed to add some skateboard tape to get a firmer grip, in hand the Tanfo feels better than the stock CZ, I have to give the edge to the Tanfo for the slide serrations, larger & offer a bit more grip.

The Shadowmate have a better trigger in SA, DA is about the same. One thing that through me off the Tanfo is the quality control from the factory, the pistol had some serious flaws when he got it, the safeties were improperly fitted and some sear/safety pad polishing was needed so it could operate properly, the slide catch looks bent and the finish is supposedly a pain to clean.

All in all I think my $1500 shadowmate is a real bargin compared to the $2500 Stock II Extreme. Heck I could buy two Shadowmate for the price of an Extreme...

I would seriously take a look at Sphinx if I was considering buying a $2k pistol, they are approved for IPSC PD division and are superbly fitted.

Ive got my finger on the trigger right now between those 2 pistols. Im either going to get the CZ 75 Canadian Ed or splurge for the Stock II Xtreme

The $1500 vs $2800 isn't really the deciding factor, I don't mind spending more for a better gun or even something more rare. I have shot a regular CZ 75 and I have also been able to try the Stock II xtreme, as other shooters at my range were nice enough to let me try their pistols. Both were great to shoot coming from mostly shooting my Glocks, but the Tanfoglio put a little bigger smile on my face. And overall just seemed to have a slightly better fit and finish.

The only real issue is the CZ I can go pick one up within a few days as a local store about an hour away has a few in stock and on sale, but with the Tanfoglio Freedom Vetures said if I put a deposit down today I would be looking at getting it in April.

What would you do? If cost wasnt the deciding factor?

Well you sum it up pretty good. A Tanfo Stock II Extreme is an awesome gun but you'll have to wait a few months to get it, are you willing to wait? On the other hand, if you can find a Canadian Shadowmate in stock for less than $1700 before tax I would say buy it, it's also pretty scarce (lots of plain Canadian shadows around but very few are Mate's) and, out of the box, the CZ will have a better trigger.

I can wait

The CZ are Shadow Mate Canadian $1395 + tax

The extreme versions are already tuned so they are exceptional. Another option if you don't want to wait as long is going for a regular stock II (next delivery expected end of February) and have freedom ventures swap in the "extreme" parts (trigger group, hammer, pin etc) for 400 or so.

Yes there is another company locally that has the Stock II in stock, I could just grab that and do the extreme mods. How hard are the xtreme parts to get though?

I really don't mind waiting, so I think thats what Im going to do

Although I must say the Stock II with red or black aluminum grips does look fantastic also

I think freedom ventures usually has them in stock. In terms of function I'm sure the extreme is worth the wait. From a superficial aesthetic perspective, I agree the regular stock II is pretty much the cleanest looking CZ variant on the market imo. I guess the question is can it be made as good as the extreme simply by swapping out some parts. I'm sure it would require a little more finessing by a good smith, but again, talk to the guys at Freedom Venture. They know these guns inside and out.

At $1395 they are less expensive than the plain un tuned Canadian shadow... Reliable as two Shadowmate for sale for $1850 each...

Regular price is listed on the site at $1554.05 + tax, so its $159 off on sale before taxs. And its the black one, not the silver. I think they only have 1 or 2 left, I checked only a day or 2 ago and they had 5 or more, so they are selling fast at that price

The Shadowmate only comes in black. I know a few dealers that listed Silver edition as Mate's but it wasn't a true Shadowmate.

I just recieved it today and love it, took it out and it shoots really nice. I was expecting a much worse trigger by the way people talked about it but I don't find it bad at all..
