I have a Tnfoglio stock 3 extreme that I've had for a few months. It seems to have a fte issue that happens 2-4 rounds in 100. The fired case stays in the chamber, the ejector not grabbing the spent case. This has been happening with many different ammo, both factory and my own reloads. It's always the same issue, fte, spent case stays in chamber, slide stays most of the way back as the new round is not stripped off. All my mags are genuine Tanfoglio.

What I've tried so far:
Changed the recoil spring - have used both of the supplied springs, neither has any effect.

Replaced the extractor, this worked for about 300 rounds, then the issue came back..

I clean it every 2nd range trip, but cleaning doesn't seem to make any difference

Two questions:
1) has anyone had a similar issue with a tan and how did you fix it?

2) how often are you cleaning you tan? Lime I said, I clean every second range trip, usually around 4-500 rounds. I can't imagine this thing is such a prima donna that it needs to be cleaned so often??

Step number one is to check the human factors.
You can clean, lube, and respring until the cows come home but if your grip and hold are weak, you will never see an improvement.

Hold on to the gun like it owes you money and try and get it to barf.

You replaced the ejector? Or do u mean extractor? The only way to replace an ejector is to replace the entire sear housing. Sounds like a light load...or old brass...or possibly a xtra power extractor spring is needed.

Just fyi. ..u could fire literally thousands of rounds before it gets dirty enough to cause fte

I replaced the extractor (stupid auto correct...)

That was a week ago, replaced with a new one. Took 300 rounds to start happening again, so I don't understand how it would foul up that much in only 300 rounds. (about 50/50 blazer brass cased and wolf reloads).

Mine has never had a problem with extracting. I use an ultrasonic cleaner every 500-1000 rounds.

My problem is my rear sight likes to come loose and spit those two tiny springs all over the place.

I'd try the extra power extractor spring. As Maurice said, it should take thousands and thousands of rounds before it starts to malf like that

It happens with all mags I believe. Where would I find an extra power extractor spring? I can only find the stock extractor spring at my usual go to places for Tanfoglio parts

Wow, this is actually fairly rare. Most of the possibilities were already discussed such as extractor, cleaning, etc.. It could be an issue with the barrel fitting as well, as if the bullet sits .5 mm more forward, the extractor can't grab it (very unlikely though). I would go to the range and manually try to cycle the rounds through your gun to see why the extractor is not grabbing. I would also ensure that there was enough tension on the extractor to grab the brass.

thanks.

Well, I cleaned it really well, especially the exctractor and area and took it to the range. Good for 40 rounds, then I had an FTE every 10 rounds. Last night it was Blazer 115 gr brass cased. On the weekend I was using some Wolf 124g reloads. I may change the extractor spring today or I may just call the shop I bought it from and see what they suggest.

if a stronger extractor spring doesn't do it, it needs to go back and be warranty repaired or replaced. It's possible, unlikely, that you've got a lemon. It happens sometimes though.

I spoke to the shop, they said it was likely either the spring or possibly the chamber being cut a slight bit low to toleance and may be grabbing the case soemhow. I can somewhat but the chamber thing.

So, I agreed to replace the spring and re-test it Sunday, and if that doesn't change anything they will polish the chamber. Spring is done, will shoot it Sunday and see where it stands.

Thanks for all the rsponses.
