I've been looking at both these Tanfoglios for a while now and was wondering if the difference of roughly $400 bucks was worth it, or if I'mmissing something (quite possible). This would be primarily for IPSC production competition.

The only 2 things seem to be that the Stock II barrel has coned external profiling and it may have a different rear sight.

Anyone have direct experience with these 2 side by side?

I just got rid of my Stock 1 which is really a Stock 2 with a different lower to a CGNer in a Trade for a Rifle. Any who I have shot Tanfo III Extreme and in all honesty the triggers were not that much off. The double action is smoother still quite long and not as good as a shadow. The Single action is marginally shorter.

The weight is definitely there on the Stock2 but Stock 3 is not much lighter. Both were good guns I just honestly hate double actions.

I spoke to the guys at Freedom and they said that you can get all the Extreme inards for less then an extreme and just get a trigger job done.

I still have my Tanfo Match which is my go to gun. Love this thing. I'll prolly buy a Limited next.

I thought the stock 1's were just in the development stage with only a couple prototypes built for display?

OP, you should post in the Freedom Venture threads for info on all the differences between the stock II and stock III as they are distributor for Tanfogilo but I do know that the stock II's coned barrel is also a bull barrel and the stock III's barrel is neither.

Stock 2 is shorter, unless you order australian lenght. Has bull barrell and does not have accessory rail.

Stock 3 only comes in australian length, has regular barrell (might be changed now, but I doubt it). Has accessory rail.

That are almost identical in weight.

Freedom Ventures has good write up on it. I am just talking from experience with 3 Tanfoglios I have.
