I'm considering buying a used tanfoglio stock d/a pistol. It's a nice gun but sometimes the hammer only falls to half #### when I pull the trigger. Anyone know what the cause is?

Feedon Ventures is th Canadian imprter for Tanfoglios, I heard their customer service was excellent. Sounds like the pistol is unsafe. Have the owner fix it or let is go and find yourself a pistol that is in good order.

Yes, look at the over travel screw. Back it off While testing to see how the sear releases. Hold the hammer back with your thumb as you depress the trigger and feel for resistance or a bump in the let off. Keep turning the screw until it releases cleanly and then lock tight it in place. If the lock tight bond is broken the screws can work their way out over time and prevent the sear from moving through it's full arc, which makes it basically force it's way past the hammer hooks without enough clearance to pass the half-####. It should be fine once you do this.

I removed the over travel screw completely and the sear does clear the hammer hooks. It feels like it might be a reset problem, if I ride the trigger the hammer won't drop sometimes but if I completely release the trigger it seems to drop ok.Maybe the disconnector is hanging up on the trigger bar? I have no experience with these guns so I'm just guessing...........

I have noticed something else. If I push down on the safety with my thumb while pulling the trigger it makes the problem worse. The hammer only drops about one sixteenth of an inch........

did you take it apart andmove the sear spring over? did you remember to put it back......but it doesn't sound like this is the problem....sounds like your safety may need some looking at.....

I shot 350 rds today. one ftf...(round went high), and FT ignite.. it hit the primer hard enough,...as I verified. Must have been a bad primer.

Someone has been messing with the hammer/sear relationship.

If you screw with the sear hook height too much on these triggers you change the geometry and it will drop to double action on a single action pull.

Be prepared to pay for a new hammer and/or sear and install charges.

My advice, walk away.

Yep, sounds like it could be that. Yeah, walk away,.....get a new tan.

It's a challenge now, I can't let it go.......If I slip a tiny piece of photocopy paper between the disconnector leg and where it touches the frame of the gun the problem seems to disappear. So maybe the disconnector is hanging up on the trigger bar?...........
