feeding problems
OK. Good to hear something good about the pistol. I bought a witness 1911 in .45 this spring. Figured I had it made. OK, the major issue I have is grip, (former wheel gun guy). I've been working on my grip pretty hard and it is getting better. However, I cannot find a round that will feed OK. fiocci, feed jam, american eagle, more feed jam, combat master, again the feeding problem. I am getting fairly sick of it. FMJ 230 grain, all of them.
I've had guys look at my grip & stance. No show stoppers there. Gotten advice about breaking it in. You know polish the feed ramp, oil is good, it'll get better after 1000 rounds. I'm aroung 500 and no good in site. At this weekend's 3 gun it jammed twice and refused to fire four times. Good round in chamber, slide in battery, in the middle of a stage, drop mt mag slam in loaded mag, fire into new mag and ............nothing. tap, rack, bang, squeeze trigger.........nothing. PEACHES!!!! tap, rack, bang........nothing.......PEACHES!!!!! drop mag, new mag, rack, bang, bang. All better. However, it leaves a big question for me. I'm currently looking for another load, 180 grain, something, anything. It's not just me either, my son shoots it and the same thing happens to him.
Any suggestions?
