Hi guys,

I'm at the point where I need to buy an high end scope for my TRG42. Can't decide between the S&B and TT...

What would you do? What did you pay for your TT? How do you like it? I handled an S&B PMII for not the TT.

Let me know what you think and give me some of your personal feedback.

I would love to see a full review of Tangent Theta vs S&B,NF,etc.

Hope one comes out soon as I would like to see how the lineup compares to the competition.
 
i cant comment on the TT but i have owned many SB over the years, and i can say they are worth every single penny. If shooting was as much a part of my life as it used to be i would never hesitate to buy another
 
I've never used an S&B but love the idea of the compact one like jaycarver has in another thread here & the price is cheaper than a theta but damn I love what I've seen in a video & read on the net about the theta. Mystic Precison is a dealer now but what kind of wait time would we be looking at? Decisions decisions as I want to scope my PGW coyote with a theta!!!

I have many PMll S&B but i will take the plunge for a TT 5X25 in the coming times, nothing wrong with the S&B and they are still the reference but it's time to try a new horse... JP.:rockOn:
 
I went with a TT from Jerry (as in a pre-order) for my first alpha scope. I have had an NF ATACR and currently run a Bushy ERS but this is the first of the top tier makers.

The TT is more costly but it is made right here at home, I would think that if servicing is ever required it would be pretty easy.

As mentioned the reviews on SH are positive but I would hope they would be for that price.

I think that the local made is a huge selling point, BUT at that price range it better never ever need warranty! What's the warranty like on the TT? I would be even more interested if they had a higher powered scope (looking at sb pmii12-50x56). As right now I feel that 5-25x50 is barely enough for me to see 30 cal holes at 200 meters.

The S&B PMll 12X50 are huge scopes, i use mines for load devellopment, great tool... JP.
 
The principals behind TT have been in the game of high end milspec scopes for a very long time. They are also competition shooters and my conversations with them have been frank and reassuring. Seeing one of their smaller models was impressive enough for me to take on the dealership.

I have little doubt that service will be good... I just don't expect you will need it. It was very reassuring that Warranty was not the first thing he talked about :)

It is lifetime by the way...unlike some overseas brands that will stop after a few years.

I was very impressed with their steps and procedures to put a scope together. They certainly have the right frame of mind for what is important and what must happen in a service ready scope. It was explained that they do not make a "civy grade" scope. It's all the same stuff.

I like the response I was given when I asked the obvious "other brand" comparisons. Very politely it was explained this way.... We put them into service. The end users demand more. We have a hard time keeping up with the new orders.

PS as they grow and catch with production volume, they do have high mag scopes on the drawing board. It will have very interesting and innovative features. BUT nothing is going to happen anytime soon.

Consider dropping the bullets into a white sheet of paper under the target. You should be able to pick up the holes then.

It is very hard to see black hole on a black target until you start getting into very good optics.

But with the right glass, you will be amazed at what you can see even with moderate mag. It is very hard to explain what good glass is...... you simply have to experience it.

My premier is awesome, so is my S&B. my premier's glass is a hair better and my S&B's turret click feels better.
if TT is equal or better than my premier 5-25, especially if the turrets as good as S&B, then TT could be the winner.

Edited to add,

also TT has lifetime warranty,
S&B now has 2 year warranty.

no biggie to some as S&Bs are built like tanks, but something to consider.

If I could experience the glass before putting down the cash, it would fall down so much much faster.. Sadly thats not the case in BC..

But I will def give the white paper under target a try.. I think If I use a small enough target I could get away with just aiming center and letting it "drop" as my scope is zero'd at 100 meters. If not, the turret caps come off...
