I purchased a Bul Storm 9mm today for wifey. She really liked the feel of it, nice rubber grips and ergonomic design. I have read that they are very reliable and the owner attested to that. Question I have is what is the difference between the Bul Storm.....

And the Tangfoglio....

As you can see they look identical. I have read it's not a matter of just selling the same gun under a different name. Apparently Bul Storm has done something to make the Tangfoglio better. Can anyone add to this story? I can't find much information except what Bul says on their website..."the BUL Storm is also based upon a proven platform (the CZ-75 in this case) whose track record for reliability is beyond reproach. In engineering the BUL Storm, several refinements were made to the CZ-inspired design to improve balance, increase durability, and make the gun more comfortable to handle and easy to operate."

For all intents and purposes, BULs and Tanfoglioes are the same thing. And the Tanfoglio and Witness are about the same too. Look at the polymer BULs and the Witness P series, and what do you note?

Well, according to Bul's Canadian importer, the Storm was "developed by a diverse team of experts comprised of championship-level IPSC competitors, combat veterans, Israeli Special Forces operatives, and ergonomics experts..."

But if you actually believe that bull, I've got a mint 1985 Yugo with a powerful 1.1L engine that I could sell you...

More likely, the Storm is either built under license from Tanfoglio or by Tanfoglio itself, with Bul adding a few small parts to qualify it as being Israeli made.

You bought it.... It's a great looking gun Chris... actually I liked it so much I bought the Tanfoglio on Nov.3 LOL....

I don't know if there is any real HUGE diffrences between the CZ, Tanfoglio, Sphinx, Bul Storm, ect ect.
But I can say this... It is becoming a gun that is being copied by many other companies... this is a good thing... this means that the gun design is without question a good one.... other companies are not copying it because it's junk.... Look at Colt's 1911 (I know it was designed by John Browning)... almost every gun company copys that design (Sig, Para, Kimber, Tanfoglio, ect, ect) they copy this gun because it is popular and it's reliable... Same could be said about Taurus copying Beretta's 92FS...

It's a great looking gun and I'd bet that it is very well built and reliable... the Israili's make quality firearms... they have to... they're pretty much the only country that is constantly at war.

can't wait to try her out.... see you at the range.

And this is the bomb of the CZ75 variants.....:) Also israeli...:) Wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to make the BUL CZ clone.

I would say you are correct. I haven't even seen one, but the reading I have done says so.

I agree Rick! Also got 550 rounds for factory ammo off the seller for cheap. Got to bring the holster, belt, ammo and mag holders home but waiting for the ATT!

ALL those guns are copies of the original --- the CZ75. If memory serves me correct, when the CZ75 first came out, and american gun writters got to examine and try them, they literally raved about the gun, as it was far superior to anything else on the market.

However, there was one big problem; that gun was made in what was then a communist country, and could therefore not be imported into the US, where the big market was.

To get around this, a number of gun makers from other countries obtained the rights to make/distribute these guns under their own name, and they could and did import them to the US., and found an extremely lucritave market.

The design was so good, it was widely copied and marketed under a lot of names. Even the famous Bren 10 was based on that design.

With the fall of communison, the gun is now imported under it's own name through CZ-USA.

This info was relayed to me by a distributor rep. from Tangfolio back about 1981, when he was here showing us their line of guns.
