When I win the Lotto,I am going to get a Ferret. Here's one with a bit of bling. I am normally a consevative guy and like original but you must admit this one is very cool.

Wife says I can have the Sherman with the mouth and eyes painted on the front because "it's cute". All I need now is the money.

they are pretty cool, got to go in one once. didnt get to drive though
I never got to drive one but when I was posted to the maint. shop in Pettawawa many decades ago, there were a few in the yard and the mechanics would take them for a spin with me sitting on top. Great fun.

ya the one i was in was at the RCD's. lol it drove twice a year, into the shop in the fall, and then out onto a cement pad in the spring. I wouldnt be surprised if its still sitting there.

Shermans take 200 gallons(757 l) of high octane(100) gasoline and mileage is measured in gallons per mile. The Yahoo one is a Firefly(17 pounder gun, 90mm with the same armour, etc. It could tangle with the Tigers and Panthers, but had to get the first shot due to the totally inadequate armour. They were called Ronsons for a reason.). Know a guy who owns one of 'em. Called it a long range remote control drill when a cop asked him where he thought he was going after a minor accident at the CNE, long ago.
Armoured vehicles are far easier to come by than you'd think. There are lots of internet sites selling 'em.
That Ferret owned by a pimp? Just curious. snicker.

its a shame that the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation collection is being auctioned off and broken up. Jacques Littlefield spent a lot of time making that collection. but it would still be cool to own a couple of those tanks.

By the time we were finishing up with the Ferrets they had a very high VOR rate, mostly due to the problem of getting spares to rebuild the wheel hubs. They were built for "sneak and peek" type of recce and were very useful for this. One other fascinating vehicle was the Staghound armoured car which was used by corps recce regts in WW2. They were big with a 37mm gun and a couple of .30cal MGs and were used by some militia armoured regs into the late '50s. I recall one still running at the Armoured Corps School in Borden in 1965. We were still using Shermans as gun tanks and ad hoc APCs with turrets removed up until this time when they were replaced by the M113A1 APC.

Likely some stuff is gone already and some of it is going to another collection. I went there twice and had a private tour where I could crawl over any vehicle I wanted, I wished I had 2 more days to do that.
