Not something I hunted, but figured the hunting folk would appreciate this:

It was a EDIT elk. A friend of mine was given it, and she gave it to me. It was salted, dry scraped, then tanned on a frame and has now been shampooed and re-oiled. It's quite supple considering it's the first fur on skin I've successfully done:p Just finished blowdrying it in the sun with a leaf blower.

Can't tell who's more surprised, the dogs or the neighbours!

Well, I'm buggered. I've never seen either in person, and it was delivered with two bull buffalo.... the two buffalo went to the lady teaching me, I took the elk. In any event, it's soft :p

P.S. odd thing... the fur only slipped in areas that had huge amounts of ticks. I combed the whole hide several times over and the places where the fur would slip if you tugged on it was absolutely packed with ticks. Right along the spine betweent the front shoulder blades was the absolute worst. Ended up vaccuming them all up.
