Tapco High Capacity Mags

That's awesome news!

I hope they do sell some up here because I would love to have a few for my Tapco'd Chinese SKS. If only for the LCF.

If they made a 5rd magazine in a 20rd body, the bottom part being solid - no follower or anything, just solid plastic(or whatever they're made of). No way to ever make it a 20rd, and no pinning needed. Would people still want them? The LCF would be the same, or more because there is no external difference, no pinning.

I think it would be great if they started producing a Canadian version of the mag, but it is not likely they would without some market research that suggested there was strong possibility of the return on investment. How and where would they get that data? The anecdotal information you and he mentioned is not sufficient.

As much as I'd love to see them, I wouldn't hold my breathe.

I personaly love the 5/20 round pinned models I have. If the day ever comes we can unneuter our mags all would be easy to do with the simple pop rivet set up.

On my 56 Tula solid birch stock, please see Post No. 9 this thread, I had to carve and file off a little wood on both sides of the magazine well, otherwise the Tapco mag will not slide in all the way. Just make sure you don't take off too much wood. Slow and easy, took about 15 minutes. Reseal the bare wood with some gun stock oil.

My 54 Tula laminate stock will need some trimming as well, if I choose to use Tapcos in it.

Do you mind to show some pics of the mag well with the magazine removed?

Thanks!

No problem.

Thanks a lot easyrider!

Its very clean and professionally done!

I like it very much and I've learn something new today because before I see your post I always think the Tapco was only mean to be use with Tapco stock and I prefer the wooden stock on sks.

Another question, can you easily convert it back to the original mag if you want to?

Thanks again!

True, but this site is a giant post-it note after all. Besides the gov already ruled that a pop rivet is acceptable. I'm not saying to remove the pin. But "if" and that is a big if the day ever cames that the gov gives back our rights and freedoms.

What I meant was, BB might realize that pop rivets are only semi-permanent and they may decide to require something more permanent, like the ugly welded posts and pins in the original SKS mags.

You are most welcome and thank you for your kind words. Just used my Swiss knife and a flat file is all.

Original mag fits the same.

Anything is un-doable or possible with the right supplies and set of tools. They are well aware of that. Nothing is truly permanent.

too heavy, and theres nothing wrong with a pop rivet. why bother jumping through hoops when you dont have to

not jumping through hoops, just curious as too what makes people want a 5/20rd magazine.
Is the 20rd body the only important thing? Is the possibility of unpinning important? The ease of loading a 5/20rounder?

There are many reasons; weight, ease of loading, LCF, plenty of leverage for removal/attachment.... etc, etc...

But I'll stick with the most important one: Because we can.

Nevermind.
I got a 5/20rd magazine coming in the mail. Good price, adds value to the firearm. Add that to the list why.
