Tapco magazine how to keep the bolt open after magazine is empty

is there a way to keep the bolt open ??

any help would be great

thanks

Hey dude, when i first tried to install the tapco in my ati stock i had the same problem. Mag would fit but the BHO would not work. you may need to file the mag down some more or open your magwell, it may be being pinched. I did that and voila , she worked no probs. Before i filed at the mags, i jammed it in the magwell and found where all the plastic was marked and filed those areas accordingly. There is a little tabe on the back of the follower in the mag that will push your bolt hold open up. Look there first!!!! I pray this message reaches you in time :p ehehehehe

BHO should work normally with a TAPCO mag, all of mine do.

If yours is NOT working, then I would suggest trying to find the cause before you continue to use the rifle further, unexpected operation is how things go badly.

EDIT: Post some pictures of the mag well with and without the mag seated and I can give better advice.

just the chinese

Ok, if it's only doing it in the one that it fits very snug, then that is most likely the problem.

If you want it to fit the Chinese SKS, you'll need to take a file and carefully file down where it is wearing, I'm at work right now so I can't take a picture of my magazines to give you an idea where, but there are good tutorials online to show you.

It should not effect function in the Russian, but it possibly could, so bear that in mind.

Couple more questions:

Will these take rounds from stripper clips??

Does the bolt slam forward, when you start your mag change??

Are these mags tough to last a few thousand rounds? ... or flimsy temporary fun?

Tapco has a mag release for sale, I guess its meant to perform better with these mags for mag changes? Is this an awkward part to swap, or easy?

Also, do these fit with Russian wood and Chinese wood stocks, without modifying the stock?

Are they reliable????
