So Ive been out with the sks, love it but have a big problem. I'm 6'3", with a 6'9" arm span and I feel like ive pulled my upper back out hunching over this thing. I've been looking at aftermarket stocks, and as nice as they seem, i've ran into almost equal opinions about love and hate from google. So, what do you guys think? Love them, hate them? I think I have a refurib(not sure) so i'm not worried about ruining some piece of history(any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated no idea where to start) I need a longer lop big time and i'm not going to hide it, it will look a lot more cool with a "evil" stock. Is it even worth getting the folding ati, can you fire it with any amount of decent hits?

I have the ATI on one of my sks's. I like it better than the tapco myself. Shooting it folded is fun but hard to hit much. Did bag a yote once with it folded though, that was lucky.

You're being a wuss!! Just put up with the stock and do not blaspheme the holiness of the rare antique or a bunch of Orthodox priests will get ya with their chants !!!

On a serious note, yeah, even with my 5'9 frame, I find the original stock way too short. I shot with a Tapco stock and it was A LOT more comfortable, with plenty of adjustment left to fit you. Its owner loves it, and chances are I'll be ordering one in, too. First thing on my list is a peep, though. Might try a buttpad in 1-2" as a temp measure.

My tapco stock has been great. Only complaint is that you have to remove the grip to get the trigger group out. Other than that, I loved it. Get a rubber butt pad for it though. It doesn't come with one and the plastic is not comfortable. I had an ATI folder on my mini 30. The folding stock is a gimmic IMO. I see no practical use for it at all. Much prefer a sliding fixed stock.

Have you looked at the dragonov stock? Little bit classic in its style but still cool looking and longer than the factory stock.

^^What he said. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I frankly don't like the way the ATI stocks (some of them) make an SKS look curved. Functionally, I doubt there is much difference.
