tapco stock for svt-40!

I was out at the range the other day with my SVT 40 and all I could think was, "I love this rifle, but what it really needs is a quad rail system for a flash light and laser..."

... Said no one ever.

I actually have been looking into creating (whether making myself, or commissioning a one off) a new stock for my SVT. I love the rifle and the look, but as a taller guy with lanky arms the short LOP really gives me a hard time. I tried adding a butt pad, but it's wasn't enough and didn't look very good on the gun. I think the changing of a stock is the least offensive 'alteration' as it is totally temporary, if you sell the gun, throw in the original stock and let the buyer decide what he wants to use. As for people who want rails and whatnot to attach accessories too, well, that is their choice. So, while I have no answer for the OP, I'm really having a hard time grasping the outrage in this thread.

I guess 'Freedom' only applies when it's something you agree with. Hardly surprising, but disappointing coming from this community.

Because a thing can be done ,does not mean it should be done. I would like my grandchildren to be able to see a svt outside of a museum. BTW I think thunbhole stocks are available in Europe.

I understand this position, believe me. I don't really understand the big deal with the stock though. As long as the original stock is kept, and not thrown in the fireplace/garbage what is the harm? I could certainly get behind the anti-mod crowd if something was being permanently altered on the gun. I added a scope rail to my M44, a model that drills no new holes and keeps the rear sight leaf intact, because I like the shoot the firearm and my eyes are not what they used to be. Does this make me a 'destroyer of history'? I personally don't think so.

I was thinking on hogging out a plastic stock from an sks or similar to test fit svt-40 to it. Maybe buy that new plastic mosin stock from archangel.

Hey, might just work.

Your best ally here is your own imagination and innovation. Like it has been said, you won't find exactly what you are looking for commercially.

As long as you keep the original parts, your not destroying anything. Many folks do see to have problems stopping at that point though.
