Well, I installed my Russian SKS into a Tapco stock. Not bad except it seems like I will have to remove the handgrip and screw everytime I want to remove the trigger group.

I tried removing some of the material on the inside of the hand grip, but still not enough. Is this intentional?

Thanks.

I think it was just the way it was made and they never bothered to change it. I find it a PITA to keep taking it off if I want to remove the receiver from the stock.

Yes, I think it's intentional if you want your firing hand anywhere near the trigger group. Owning a Tapco stock myself, I've looked at this situation and decided just to leave it as is. After all, it just takes a 10mm socket to remove.

Why remove the trigger group at all? I have 3 sks, and kept wiped down and oiled seems fine years later. I go crazy cleaning bore, muzzle, gas tube area, and bolt assembly, but find no issue with leaving the top cover and trigger assembly alone, other than a wipe and oil.

I used a dremel tool and some files and modified mine. Trigger group comes out without taking the grip off.
