Tapco T6 SKS Stock Arrived - Pics

The optics are marstar red dot. I wouldn't recomend them for anything other then airsoft. you would probably have better luck with aimpoint or eotech copys off ebay. The scope mount is a "scout scopes" mount. There have been a few threads here about them. I also got the mount at marstar. part no. mnt-010 for $99.99.

Regarding the hand guard, that was by far the biggest issue..

Punch out the old pin = useless pin. I ended up making a new pin from scratch. Still a hassle to get in. I recently received a metal ventilated hand guard; came with an aluminum pin that looks much easier to install.

I am going to be bringing in about 10 of these. I just need to get some sort of feeling from those interested if anyone would want the one with the bayo slot, otherwise I will order them all without.

PM to have one held. Delivery date is unknown and depends on postal system. Probably about 3 weeks.

The one thing that sucks is that you must remove the pistol grip to service the trigger. This is an issue as the grip is held on by a simple lag bolt that self taps into the plastic stock. I can see this being a problem if you strip the rifle often and are careless with the screw.
I've been looking at one of these myself lately (after seeing how cool yours looks w/the stock on :D ), but this issue that you mentioned is what keeps me from ordering one. Is there any way to install a threaded metal insert, like the ones used for holding particle-board furniture together? Is there enough meat in the material to drill and install a helicoil? Any other solutions that anyone can think of? This seems like a terrible design to me, I take down my SKS every time I shoot it to clean all the corrosive crap out, so I'd definetely end up stripping the lag bolt out at some point.

Yah how about when the rifle gets toasty...can the stock handle the heat?

Looks nice BTW, and thanx for the USA link.

Congrats on the purchase OC3. If I were you I would pull out your operating rod and get that rust/cosmo off of there. SKS's are great plinkers but do not like rust one bit.

Here's my Russian SKS with a Tapco T-6. Paid $125.00 for the rifle, $90.00 for the stock & $35.00 for the Leaper's red/green dot. I'm happy for the price. The sight is held on by a tri mount attached to the bolt housing. There are four machine screws that tighten the housing to the frame and stop movement of the housing. I'm goint to make a dummy bayonet handle to attach the bipod to, so it won't affect the barrel harmonics.

I'm more interested in your scope mount than the stock, to be honest :p I've got one myself, and have yet to range test it. How do you find it for holding zero? Do you notice any movement at the back of the mount, where it's held by the reciever cover pin? On mine there was TONS of slop at the back, even with the cover screws tightened down  Do tell!

P.S; The pic looks good, but it's pretty tiny :D Do you have a larger one?

I have no movement back there, or none that I've noticed. When fitting the cover, you just want to remove enough of the ears that the pin is a tight fit. I have to drive mine in and out, with a small drift and mallet. It's very tight. I've done no long range stuff yet, with this one, so it's hard to tell. The zero doesn't seem to have shifted for the 50 meter and under I have done. I expect the cheap Leapers may go out of zero before the mount.

Glad to hear it, I can't wait to range test mine :D That stock looks like OD green in the pic, is that just lighting or is it an olive drab one? Looks cool, regardless  That looks like one of those twist-on muzzle brakes too, how well does it perform? Do you notice a huge difference in recoil? Sorry for the pop quiz, I just get excited when I see cool stuff like this (most of which I wanna do to my SKS as well) :D

Nope, it's OD. They also come in tan. This one also has no cut out for the bayonet. The muzzle brake claim was for 60-70% less recoil, I can't really tell, I never thought there was that much to begin with. I suppose it works somewhat, but I don't know how much. It's on there more for the LCF than anything else.
