I'm probably not the first guy to notice that the Beretta 92FS is available with either a tapered or non-tapered bottom. The part I'm describing is towards the front of the frame below the barrel. I'm pretty sure there's a name for this "location" but it escapes me at this point. Sorry.

Other than the obvious, is there a difference between the two available models performance-wise??? Or is it just a "looks" thing?

Dust cover? Is that the part you're referring to?

If that's the part at the front of the gun and below the slide then, yup, that's what I'm talking about. What I'm trying to describe is the fact that the "dust cover" tapers up towards the barrel on some versions, whereas on others it does NOT taper up, just like in your left pic......

Older ones are straight, they became curved at some point, and very recently with the M9 switched back to being straight. I have owned both straight and curved and prefer the look of the straight dust cover, other than that there was no difference in performance.

No, not the rail itself.

The gun you posted up on the left is what I'm referring to as the non-tapered version. You'll note that the dust cover does not angle up or taper up towards the barrel. Some versions I've seen have the dust cover angling up on a slight angle or taper.

Does that make sense???
