Tar 21 or SL8

G36 clone is not as expensive as ppl make it out to be. You'd be surprise how much you can get for the old SL8 parts.

That's great that you got some unbelievable deals with your G36 conversion, but I think your experience is the exception rather than the rule. Realistically, I think one can easily expect to pay between upwards of $1,000 more.

I personally find the Tavor to be one of the ugliest rifles I have ever seen. It actually might be the ugliest bullpup to boot. I have no doubt that it is easy to shoot, my experience with the SA-80 tells me bullpups are easy to shot and even though they can be heavy the weight is tucked closer to the shoulder. mag changes can be cumbersome especially when prone in my experience and if you ever find yourself in a physical situation that requires left hand shooting forget it. Unless you want brass teeth.

I agree it is only my opinion in terms of ugliness as stated, but there are some very real tactical disadvantages to certain bullpup designs. That is not a personal opinion that's just a fact.

L*ctite is not a feature! ;)

Speaking of which, I took a look at the armourer's manual for the Tavor after I got mine (it's easy to find online). Check out page 4 of Chapter 8, number 15 in the "List of tools and materials". :D

I guess the difference is IWI actually applies the stuff before shipping its rifles. ;)

I'm really not sure why the XCR-L has come up again in this thread. I certainly didn't mention it. Or ever indicate that I thought it was better than a Tavor. I have had experience with a select fire bullbup, not the Tavor. So my observations are based on generic bullbup issues that I have personally observed and also generic bullbup strengths. I have found that bullbups hide there weight very well due to the location of the weight. This allows for compact and easy maneuvering even with long barrels. They generally shot better in offhand situations due to the weight location being aft. They don't tend to make great bench guns or prone. But they are normally superior to similar length barrelled conventional rifles for shooting from the standing position. IMHO. They make egress and ingress from vehicles straight forward and even shooting in confined conditions is possible due to the short OAL.
The Tavor is still ugly as #### though. IMHO.

Just my 2 cents.
