this morning a buddy and I were reaching out to 200yds shooting clay pigeons. Savage mark 2 are nice, my buddy was shooting a TR SR bolt, and I was shooting my BRNO 2E. I am sure you can reach out and touch something further if you wanted to, becomes a challenge out past 100yds.
A heavy barreled bolt action Savage or CZ would be great target rifles. Have a Savage TR and love it. Beyond those two you're looking more or less at an Anschutz. Just make sure to do 'load development' for it as rimfire are picky about what they shoot.
Here's an example of MKll accuracy at 100 yds. I shot these at a match last month. The 10-ring is 1 1/8" diameter, the x-ring 1/2". Five shots each, max score 600. This rifle is the heavy barrel, thumbhole stock model. Ammunition: SK+.
You can get better accuracy with a high end Anschutz (or maybe a better shooter
) but for an out of the box, relatively inexpensive rifle a Savage is hard to beat. Nine of the 12 bulls were groups of one inch or less. Of course, individual rifles vary. I think everyone at the factory was in a good mood when they churned this one out.

I have shot and enjoyed shooting clay pigeons at 200 and even golfballs and ping pong balls. I use my 1940s Marlin 81s with 6x24 scopes so i can see them better. Really no dire need to buy high end equipment for out to 100 or even farther. Just know your gun and the ammo it likes and have to her. I shoot open field gophers all summer and the old girls do thier job flawlessly. We do not measure the hits on gophers but do know when they go down. Paper only when sighting in the scopes.

These rifles are unbelievably accurate; even I can shoot dime-sized groups at fifty meters with the right ammo.
The ammo is the key; mine doesn't like any Federal stuff to the point, that I thought the scope was broken (3-4" groups at 50m).
On the bright side it loves relatively inexpensive Blazer 22lr.
The stainless steel with laminated stock model is just gorgeous.

Golf balls at 200 yards is great fun, I love to watch em jump. So far 2 hits in 10 rounds is my best with my cooey 600 and the cheapest scope i could find. Chalk sounds even better, thanks for the idea! I say just shoot what ya got
go with the savage all the way, I have a MKII BV heavy barrel/laminate and this thing will out shoot my 10/22 target all day at 250 yrds and beyond. Don't get me wrong I still love my 10/22,s but for the money you can't beat the savage, and the accu trigger is really sweet. just my 0.02c
I have the Mark II BTV, love it, great trigger right out of the box. Put my cheap tasco 3x9-40mm on it and took it out, was really impressed with how accurate it was. I only shot a few groups at my targets, both sets of 4 shots ended up in the same bullet hole at about 25 yards. I also brought some targets hanging from a metal rod for the 22 semi. When we were done I started shooting at the metal rod (about 1/2" diameter) at that same distance , hit it 4 for 4.

The truth is, most guns are going to be more accurate than the person holding them...
I have a Cooey Model 60 bolt action, a Savage Mark II bolt action and a Savage Model 64F semi. The semi is a little speratic, but with either of the bolt action guns I can get around 1/2" groups at 50 yards and 1" groups at 100 yards rather consistantly. I always have to laugh when someone with a new fancy $500+ .22 gets the same groupings that I do with a $100 Cooey that belonged to my great grand father.

On a calm day, with the right shooter, ammo and rifle, you can expect relatively good accuracy out to 400 yards with a .22lr round. But not many people would fall under the "right shooter" catagory. Like I said, most rifles are capable of shooting far better than the person holding them.

i have a Steven's 22lr that has extensive custom work including glass bedding that shoots far and accurately but i also have a factory 10 22 that i must be lucky cuz stock shoots realy straight and a nice marlin but with the short barrel it does great to 100yrds then goes silly i say buy whatever u like and shoot alot i have 100 000 through my Steven's any wind or bad weather itll hit we know each other better then me and my wife
