I do alot of shooting at 100 yards or more. I can spot my hits at 100 on paper but at longer ranges its hard to tell.

So i have an idea

I don't know if anyone has tried this. So lets say your paper target is set up and you set up an orange sheet of paper behind that lets say 12 inches. would that be enough distance that the angle of bullet flight threw both sheets of paper would be different then line of sight threw target paper to see orange paper threw the hole? then maybe it would be easier to spot your hits?

Use a plastric bag. Paint it to suit. When a bullet strikes, the paint will flake off around the hole, and there will be a colour contrast around the bullet hole.

Get a spotting scope or better yet upgrade the scope on you 22. Konus makes a really good spotting scope thats capable of seeing hits at a mile on steel. Even a cheap bushnell spotting scope from London Drugs/Wallyworld will see hits out to 400 or so.

Home Made Shoot and See Targets..... (1) Cut cardboard to your favorite target size (2) Adhere bright yellow or bright orange paper to it. (3) Stretch Saran Wrap or pallet wrap over it and secure to the back of cardboard with tape. (4) Spray paint with flat black. (5) You have just made your own shoot and see targets for cheap, respray them afew times to reuse. Another color idea would be to have black on the cardboard and flat white on the stretch film, high contrast is the key.
