I have done a search, info all over the place, and mainly hunting info, what are the favorite/best target loads, long range for this caliber. 6.5x55 Swedish. Brass, Primer, bullet weight-type-maunfature.

Sorry if already discusssed don't see in the search.

My favourite has been:
Std Win primer, 140gr Amax, 47grs of Reloder 22

Sierra 142 Match, CCI BR2 or Win Stnd primer,

48 gr RL22
50 gr RL25
49 gr H1000

These are slow powders and need a fairly hot primer to ignite well. Winchester may be the best bet.

These bullets have a long bearing surface, so start 6 grains mild and go from there.

My rifle has a custom chamber that allows the bullet to be seated out a long way.

6.5 x 55 SWE Target Load

I use 47.5 GR of RL22 with CCI BR2 primers as my 1000 yard match load. This is for a Tikka T3 Heavy Barrel Varmint rifle.

My standard load is 47.5 of 4831sc with a 139-142 grain bullet. I have also used Vitavouhri 165 with some success (49 grains). These loads are fine in my rifles but may not be in yours so start a bit lower and work up.
I use Lapua brass but have also used both Winchester and Remington. Although Remington brass seemed much less consistent than the others, accuracy was very good.
For primers, I've been happy enough with CCI 200s and Federal 210s.

I shoot a wildcat, 6.5 Mystic, with the same case volume as the Swede. I use H4831SC lit by a CCI BR2 primer to push 139gr Lapuas to excellent accuracy. I can strongly endorse the quality, consistency and accuracy of this bullet IF it shoots in your pipe.

You should test the 142gr MK, 140gr Amax and 139gr Lapua. Many match barrels are quite fussy on their diet. Feed it what it likes, not what you want to shoot, and enjoy some excellent groups way out to 1000+yds.

If you LR is only out to 600 to 800yds, also test the 123gr lapua. Another superb bullet that is winning many mid range events all around the world. Go really fast in the swede if you want to. Would make for a fun varmint popper too.

Unless I missed it, no one mentioned the rifling twist. Is it important in this caliber ??
I just got a 6.5 x 55 so I am also interested in accurate loads.

Thanks

Most popular and useable twist is 1-8". It can drive 120-160grs bullets without any issues. 139-156 grain bullets in .550-650 BC range are used in 1k competitions where 6.5mm really shines. Sako, Tikka and CZ uses this twist on their rifles while most mausers used 1-7.5" twist, which was to support 144 and 160gr FMJ bullets.

Another popular twist is 1-9" it can supports bullets up to 130grs or so. More of varmint/deer and competitions up to 600yard where it can drive 107 and 123gr Scenars or Sierras.

btw. Mystic can go more indepth on this
