target paper distraction ?

Good day folks, looking to hear some opinions.
My scenario..
I have a Beretta 92G, my brother (HeavyT) has a Sig226, both bone stock.
At 20 ft. I am consistently at the extreme 8 o'clock on paper with my Beretta, within 2-3 MOA with the Sig, Bro seems fairly consistent regardless of Beretta or Sig. Very frustrating, it's like I can't hit $hit7 with my Beretta.
Here is where is gets weird, stick an empty 9mm ammo box on top of the target stand above the paper and I plug it pretty much dead centre every time with the Beretta. (I am right handed left eye (right eye nfg) if it makes any difference)
Thoughts ?

Thanks

Thanks Dan, but that doesn't explain why I can hit a 3"x5" cardboard box dead nuts though. What are your thoughts on that ?

Obviously you can only shoot "bling". Seriously, if you consistently put your shots from your Beretta at 8 o'clock, adjust your sights accordingly. - dan

not the right idea - the pattern is only wide when he shoots at the 11x17 paper target - almost like he can't focus, but wedge a cardboard ammo box into the stand and he plugs it every time. So thats why we were wondering if anyone else gets distracted by the target paper sometimes.

Hmm. You may be focusing (even just at the last split-second) on the target rather than your sights when you have a bullseye to aim at.

Try putting up a sheet of blank paper (or turn a target backwards) and shoot just roughly in the middle of it while concentrating ONLY on maintaining sight alignment (keeping the front sight centred in the rear sight). Don't get distracted if you can see your bullet holes. Ignore them and focus only on the sights.

I bet you get a good group in the centre of the paper.

One of shooting's mantras is "front sight, front sight, front sight."

Aim small miss small

Try aiming for a specific point, like a small dot on the target. See if that helps, are you shooting fast or slow?

If you are shooting fast slow down and take your time. If you are shooting slow it maybe your grip.
