Anyone want to fathom a guess as to what distance this 10 shot group was shot at? :D (And yes I have witnesses.....10 of them infact ;))

Here is the same target with a quarter placed in the middle.

Who cares, its an internet group. Group shooting is overated, its the first one that counts. What rifle, bullet, what type of rest, supported in front and rear(likely yes) any time limit, from an awkward position that you had to wait in while broadcasting information then have 2 seconds to make a non reactive zone shot under stress... Group shooting is overrated, most competent shooters with the right equipment can do this no problem.

I have to agree with you on the first shot issue. And your right if it is on a lead sled you don't even have to hold the rile. but it is a good group if the distance is over 600 yard and your on a frot rest only. and yes I have seen people do this at 600 plus.

ok, ok ok,

Richard was using a 6BR at 300M. For those that are wondering WTF with the size of the target, these are a locally produced prototype with a 35mm V-Bull, so they are smaller than the .5 MOA standard.

Also... for those that say set-back barrels don't shoot as well? ...This was a set back and re-chambered barrel. (22" I think??) Furthermore, this is a SLOW load <2800 fps, indicating that velocity and barrel length (as in really long barrels) have absolutely NOTHING to do with accuracy. Optimal barrel time and load development to let the cartridge tell you what it likes makes all the difference....as well as being one helluva shooter like Richard!

Well done lad!

I'd say... 20 yards :p

For those who say 400 and more yards.... goddam it, do you realize what it implies!? At 400 yards, this would be a less than 1/4 MOA 10 shots group. Even in the best conditions, this would be hard to achieve. You need a well made, precise rifle to do that, and a really good shooter which is not that common. And all this dead center? Sorry, I don't give more than 100 yards for this. I may be wrong, but that's the best bet. ;)

ETA: OK, must have posted at the same time as Obtunded. Well, if he's an experienced competition shooter with a 6mm BR, then OK, I'll give him the benefit of doubt. =)

Poking pencils through targets makes for some great groups :runaway:

How'd you guess? Those 6mm pencils are hard to come by these days. LOL

It's actually an 11 shot group as 1 of my sighters is in there somewhere as well, and of course the pastered shot was my 2nd sighter.

Yeah it was 300M as Obtunded already stated who happened to be my target marker for that string and who also shot a perfect on the same target not 10 minutes before me.

MPWOLF: Yes....It will be humbling. My second string on the target was not near as nice as this one, but since this is the best group I have shot at 300 I was extremely happy when I got the target face back.

Ian,
BR shooters have known velocity and barrel length have little to do with accuracy for at least 40 years. Hence the short barrels on most BR rifles.
In general shorter is accepted as better. I've always been amazed by the accuracy levels achieved with some of the long, relatively slender barrels used by TR shooters.
Richard,
What did you have to give for the custom (oversized) quarter?
Don't feel too bad about not using iron sights. Optical sights have improved to the point that irons are no longer necessary! Really, to say "if you could do that with iron sights, that would be something" is much like telling a sprinter who has just run a sub 10 sec. 100, " Now if you could just do that with an anvil tied to your butt, you'd be a fast man." Regards, Bill
