Target Pic from Sunday

Yeah I can see how the dot and group become one eventually lol...

When my rifle comes back from the gunsmith, I'll give it a try.
<------ The reticule I use is my avatar.

MPWOLF: Yes....It will be humbling. My second string on the target was not near as nice as this one, but since this is the best group I have shot at 300 I was extremely happy when I got the target face back.[/QUOTE]

you may or maynot have seen my groupings at 300 m but i was happy with 8's and 6's
nice shooting richard

Shawn? Is that you? LOL ;) (Hope I spelled it right)

I'm SURE the new target is humbling. WE havn't managed to shoot it out east yet, but we will this coming season. 900 m is going to be interesting the first time!

I know for a fact that our order will be on it's way from the coast in the next while. Our alotted numbers have been put aside and will be shipped or picked up shortly.

All those chaps with quarter minute scope dots are gonna wanna re-think that idea with this new target too, with my 42 power and the double-dot nightforce reticle, there wasn't a whole lot of the v-bull visible, plus the white line quickly obliterates with even the small target patches.

I'm not sure yet how I feel about going with 1/2 the TR target (35mm = 0.4 MOA) versus 0.5 MOA (43mm) as was explained to us in the ICFRA rules. We shot .5MOA in Alberta and I liked them.

Richard and I shot perfect possibles, but conditions could not have been more forgiving. little wind, no mirage, no sunlight.

This looks to be the way that the target will be worldwide with the F-Class V-Bull being 1/2 of the TR V-Bull according to the emails I have recieved but I am sure it will be addressed either way.

With the TR V at 70mm that makes our V 35mm which will definitely be humbling once wind, mirage and nerves are factored in.

I believe this will make the 50.10's, 75.15's and 100.20's a very rare sight indeed in competition.

Wasn't the X ring at the Farky a 50ish mm diameter and the 10 ring a 100ish mm diameter?

That target has sure gone on a diet.

What will the 500m target size at?

I take it Kamloops will also go to the 5V style of scoring?

Jerry

Yup Jerry, The future at KTSA will be true ICFRA F-Class, not the 50/100mm ISSF target. That is a 30% reduction in V-Bull diameter, but it will certainly level the playing field.

I am of two mind-sets, since the .5MOA still made a good shooter with a GOOD factory rifle a contender, but the new target will compel competitive shooters with a desire to be truly competitive to invest in customized shootin' irons if they want to stay on the map.

Can't win a .4 MOA match with a half-minute rifle.

I am all in favor of this smaller target as it will give those shooters wanting to excel, a very challenging task.

I really don't think you will see too many clean scores, let alone clean scores with high X count (unless conditions are great). I quite prefer that over seeing a whole line of 750's with only the X's separating 1st to 5th.

In my opinion, this target is actually EASIER then the last one. The odds that most shooters will drop at least one point stops it from being an Xring race. X rings is there to settle ties not as the main scoring ring.

For those that are beginners or those using factory rifles, it becomes a 5 or 10 ring game. X's will come naturally but unlikely to be that high.

If everyone scores the same, really will not matter. But it will be very hard for a F/F or F/M to beat an F/O on X's.

Going to make from some fun practise when things thaw.

Jerry

PS Did you want that lb of Re17? Send me an email to confirm either way.
