I am leaning towards Walther and Pardini, depends on availablity of parts and acesseries.

Walthers are excellent firearms, simple, reliable and VERY accurate. Distribution in Canada for new models seems "iffy" at best. There are a lot of "old" ISU bulleye shooters that may have some used units up for sale. They are relatively hard to find as most people hang on to them.

"Hunt" in firearms related forums and check with local gun clubs, you may find that "deal" you're looking for.

I have shot may of the new target standard pistol on the market with the exception of the new Walther SSP - I have held it though in Munich.

Nest to each gun I have done my best to list where you can purchase them.

I would stay away from Hammerli's SP20 as a general rule * Shooting Edge
Pardini SP, is good safe bet - just sold mine - contact International imports
Walther GSP - classic Std pistol * Airguns only
Morini CM22 - alu version is great, light, but really small trigger gaurd - my finger would touch the gaurd - *Joclyn Langlois
FWB AW93 - another classic STD Pistol - you cant go wrong. *Joclyn Langlos
MatchGuns - MG2 - great new gun, unproven, but offers a lot of promise* Jocelyn Langlois or Air guns only

Now if you are only going to be shooting ISSF/NRA events, except rapid fire, I would take the Pardini, Morini, FWB, even a Walther

If you want to shoot std, NRA and ISSF rapid fire, I would look at the MG M2, Pardini, Maybe the Morini*

IF you are looking at getting into shooting seriously, please contact me and I will do my best to assist you - I am one of the coaches of the Ont Team.

I bought my used Pardini SP New from Methodi. Firing pin broke and I ordered three spares from Internationali Imports/North Sylva. Had them in one week along with a case of Lapua Super club I ordered. Firing pin breakage was my fault. The SP New is a great gun. The adjustable width of the rear sight is a great bonus. Can't say enough good things about it.

Try to shoot as many of the models as possible to see which balances best in your hand. I wish I could justify a AW93 too. Maybe someday.

Walther GSP are easier to find on the used market.

Having owned a Pardini SP, I had a problem with my gun, and when I contacted Pardin directly they offered me wonderful service, and send me several parts for free (this was not a new gun) without me evening asking for them.

You may pay a premium for a top end gun, but the service behind them is great. I have found Pardini and Morini to be top notch organizations!!

Another option if you can find it is an IZH 35 or a Walther KSP - another great gun at a lower price point.

I am leaning towards the Pardini SP, I may buy a used left hander and then change it to right hand, hoping that parts aren't a issue.

Pardini are great pistols, if buying used you need to stay away from the models that dont have the siliver ribbing down the frame. If you are looking for that type of model, please let me know and I will tell you what to look for.

FYI - not sure how much you are buying your LH model, parts wont be an issue, but a new grip may cost between 150-220$ -

Ive got a Hammerli Xesse Sport...best target .22 Ive owned ( for under a grand), great trigger (adjustable). Too bad theyre not making them anymore. You do see the odd one come up the ee though.

Looks like this?

IMHO, don't need the electronic triggers, unless you compete in ISSf Rapidfire. There it becomes essential to practice dryfiring 5 shots on 5 targets in 4 seconds.

Check out the 25m rapidfire video.

I'm sure the new electronic triggers are OK... But I still have nightmare about the guys who bought the Walther free pistol with the electronic trigger, after a few years the company didn't want to service them and good luck trying to find any spare boards!

It's a personnaly choice, but I'm sticking to mechanical trigger!

Speaking of trigger's, the Pardini sure feels pretty nice :D
