I am thinking about getting a new powerful scope to shoot .22 at 50 & 100. All for just fun. What crosshair styles do you guys like for paper punching? I am not sure what power I will go with, I have 2-24,8-32, and lots of field scopes up to 14x. Thanks to those of you in the know. Aj

You don't need a lot of power IMHO for 50 & 100 distance..we equipped my wife's rifle with a Bushnell "Banner" for under $150.. and it's great and works well.

For target shooting at those distances I'm happy with anything from 15x to 30x. Groups don't vary in size for me if I'm in that power range. Crosshair over target dot for me, the thinner the reticle the better.

I am using a couple of Mueller's 8-32's with the target dot reticle and they work great at all ranges. Don't really require a spotting scope as I can see the holes. The finer the reticle the better.

I have a Sightron 10-50x60 lrmoa on my .22, use it at 30-40x even for 20yard indoor.
My S3 8-32x56 with FHC and target dop 1/8clicks worked fine for 50-100m.

Thanks guys, I find some crosshair or dots cover too much of the target dot. I also sight in 1 1/2 high at 50 so my target dot stays clean. 32 power seems very good for me (shows when I am not steady). I like the Sightron and will look at others. Aj

The sightron SIII's are about the perfect rimfire optic. Many scopes will have trouble with parallax closer then 100 yards. I can be parallax free with my 6-24x50 lrmoa closer then 50 yards at 24 power.

I would like to try a SIII 10 power fixed. 150 moa of elevation would be nice for 22lr
