Here is a direct quote from a press release dated Dec 8/05:

Legitimate target shooters who meet strict requirements would be eligible for a narrow exemption to the ban, which would be established in partnership with the provinces and territories. Special measures would be enacted to ensure that shooting competitions can take place in Canada and that Canadian participants in major multi-disciplinary sporting competitions - such as the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games - can legally own their handgun.

I am just getting into this fine sport. I see no good reason that the Liberals should have any say into my involvement. Do not believe ANYTHING they say! They want ALL guns, this is just the start!

The way I see it, the Libs better be prepared to chuck a lot of us in jail. That is the only way they are gonna get my guns. I think they know that they are going to be in over their heads. I haven't heard any mention of handgun banning in the press or on Lib websites since the first announcement.
