Hello,
I was out target shooting with my Remington 700 MLS today. I just put a new scope on and I only had time for a couple shots so I took lots of time trying to get my scope in the zone before I shot. My first shot, from 100 yards, was a good one, about 1/2" left of center. I thought I just got lucky so I took another shot and it hit almost the same spot. I was shooting from a bench with bags and a front rest and so I am pretty sure it is sighted in pretty good. The problem I had was the third shot, it was really hard to push the bullet down (unlike the first 2 which went down easily) and when I shot it was about 5 inches right of center. I was under the impression I could take 4 or 5 shots before having to clean, but could it be that I need to clean my rifle after every 2 shots to get consistent groups? I took a 4th shot just to see if it was me and it was even harder to get down the barrel and when I shot it was 3 inches right and 6 inches high, even worse!
Next time I go out I am NOT going to forget my cleaning stuff so I can actually figure this thing out, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar behaviour.
By the way, I am shooting .45 cal 225 grain power belts, with 100 grains for triple 7 fffg loose powder.
Thanks!
Evan
