And those "first year costs" are too much for 50m open air range IMO - 100 for course plus 600 "initiation fee' plus 45 annually for insurance...
so like or hate TSC is the only option for me for now in York region.
Out of all clubs Silverdale is the best (price/range distances) just too damn far...
Par for the course in GTA area
After being a Full Member at TSC the last 8yrs I switched to Associate Status(M-F) this past year. Haven't shot/been back in almost a year now.
Why?
Although TSC has made some cosmetic and mechanical upgrades the poor ventilation always left me with a sweet taste in the back of my throat after an hour shooting. The air quality got so bad in the Summer heat/humidity that I never went. I'm no Doctor but it can't be good if your spit has black soot in it.
As a Full Member I shot mostly on the weekends allowed access to the lanes (first). However, some of the Lanes(usually 2) were tapped off/reserved for the "walk-ins". At a certain time (11am?) the "walk-ins" would pour in 4-6 at a time with a RO and their cell taking pics and vids. I have nothing to hide but I didn't appreciate getting in a few of them and I'm sure some of the other Members felt the same way. I've voiced my opinion to the Staff to no avail.
To add insult to injury some of the available lanes had defective target returns.
While the RO's did their best I still saw some fk'd up handling of firearms by the Noobs. I learnt to pack my stuff up when they arrived.
The Good is the Retail area. Lots of "toy" and accessories. However, the counter staff would often be too busy horsing around with each other using language and talking about topics that I found offensive (and I'm no angel) especially not in public and representing a Business.
Long winded rant over.......btw I've been shooting at Barrie GC with a buddy who's a Member. It's worth the drive IMO.

Here are some things that you can personally do to minimize lead exposure, regardless of which range your at, if you are that concerned. Let's not bash the same people and industries that not only fight for firearm rights but fight for there rights as a firearms indutry business.

The owner of Target Sports has done way more to hinder our firearms rights than he ever has done to help them. I wouldn't grace the door in either of his establishments.
JR single handedly had the Swiss Arms rifles banned out of greed. I’d be careful who you defend, newbie.
Reading this makes me feel that anybody that supports Target, is supporting the 'effin Libs.
If there is any truth to this, I for one will not give them a single penny and will make a point of bashing them when possible...

There is a lot of hate for Target sports, and it still makes no sense to me.
In Toronto Target Sports is THE place to take newbies to, if you want to show them that guns are no big deal. It's where I shot my first gun with my wife, it's where I've taken a dozen friends and politicians over the last few years.
Saying that Target sports has harmed the gun community is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
And there is a lot of misinformation about what JR did and didn't do, and why, and that it led to with regards to the Swissarms.

Im not trying to be a douche. And like I said " if there is any truth" I will certainly do my research. IF there is any truth, we shouldn't support....if people are talking bs and spreading false info That person is the one dividing the community...
