I recall using 2 types of paper targets on the range in the basement of the Peterborough Armoury as a youngster;
a 5 or 6 target sheet with the upper half of the scoring rings in black, and
a single target sheet with one such circular target on it.

There was also a little cutout of a man pointing a rifle back at the firer but we never used them.
Does anyone have a digital image of any of these? I am still in the army and looking for the document number from the bottom corner in hopes of finding some in the supply system or buying a bunch from someone.
Cheers

Those were like the old "Tin Hat" target used with the Number 4.

In full-size, they were used on fullbore ranges as well.

Good images in "Shoot to Live!".

"Charging Man" target is a standard NATO type. CF designation is Figure 11; Figure 12 is head-and-shoulders only.

For those of you who are collectors of Canadian and commonwealth .22 caliber training rifles, stencollector wrote an outstanding article several years ago, which may be found in the Canada - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php?r=117-canada

Complete with over 100 detailed pictures, this is one of the best and most thorough write-ups I've encountered on the Internet, in regards to these rifles.

Thanks for the images and the reminder about the Knowledge library article. I knew the little man was different and likely pre dates our current Fig 11 and 12 targets. Lockheed Martin in Wainwright may still have some of these.
