Tariffs:Sourcing 22LR ammo for spring gophers

Buy it cheap and stack it deep… that’s one thing I’m glad I listened to back in the era of the "great 22lr shortage"
Cheap is relative. How many rounds is enough? How many years worth does one stock up for?

Will gopherpocalypse be worse this year?

Maybe I don't understand your post because of punctuation. Are you asking how many decades since federal made gold medal? Because they still make it.
Not the same your not winning any Olympic matches with the current stuff

^we are, (my point is American made 22lr ammo is meh) lots of European 22lr ammo to choose from, zero need to buy usa stuff so why even worry or ask about tariffs on it

Because some people do enjoy American made offerings for gopher and pest control, I have what I consider a decent variety of 22lr, And while I do use European 22lr in my match rifles, I prefer a bullet that preforms better on gopher where precision accuracy isn't a must. Last year I used Aguila super extra HP as a non American offering, And while it did work fine, I still found myself coming back to CCI for pest disposal, Especially CCI mini Mag Segmented hollow points, The damage they do is encroaching on 17hmr territory, I find them truly unbelievable for critter control. On a really good day my dad and I have shot 1000 rounds at gophers hardly moving from our spot, a full brick of 22lr and a full brick of 17hmr. We had to go home early because we had only brought two bricks with us thinking we'd have plenty for the day. Have yet to have a day that good again, but average is about a brick an outing.

So yes you can say American offerings are "meh" in terms of precision ammo but that's not what this thread is about, But I personally find them top tier for pest control.

I'm still shooting .22 hp that I bought 30+ years ago, but I still stock up on Aguila hp. Two things you never want to run low on in life - ammunition is the main one.

Tariffs delayed. So y'all can cool off for now. As was suspected all along. Trump is a deal maker. Trudy is weak.
He is using the threat of tariffs to make Canada fix its own border and fix its own house. Like holy $hit how dare he, that's so mean 🙄

Well, to be fair, they have done little to stop illegal guns, drugs and money launderers from getting in to Canada. (And our government has done SFA to keep the same s*** out of our country either.

The moron wants us to fix his (their) problems for him. Trump can go suck a fart out of a dead bear, as can our PM.

I tried a bunch of different types of ammo on gophers and settled on Win Super X HP as the best. It is reasonably priced, produces excellent terminal effects and is quite accurate.

Very cool. would love to try some, I have some PMC predator, talk about hard hitting, accuracy isn't great but never is with hypervelocity 22lr
Terminal effects are somewhat pointless when the stuff isn't accurate enough to make consistent hits. For gophers, ammo has to be both, terminally effective AND accurate enough to consistently go where it is aimed.

That’s quite the stash. I’m a ways from stacking it that deep. Find some ammo that works well and stock up…
