Just finished this fun little project.

TRW Op rod on top, Memorex on the bottom (actually a Norinco forged 1-piece op rod cosmeticaly altered to look more GI with the GI angled "hump" profile and a connector bar hook milled into the oprod.

These Norinco op rods are almost glass hard (!). I had to use a carbide end mill after I burnt out an HSS tool.

Still, the result looks pretty passable, I think.

I don't think the young ones know what Memorex is. Looked at my receiver and found the high spots you mentioned in previous post, light stoning took them down. thanks for the post and pics. my question is regarding the top of the receiver where the right bolt lug rides. is this surface straight front to back, or slightly rockered ? I don't have another to compare to. thank in advance.

That surface is supposed to be curved, and also there is a step in it for a corresponding protrusion om the underside of the right bolt lug. Should be fine as-is.

Got my modified Norinco rod back from parkerizing. Turned out nice. Will keep it as a spare or for a future build.

Norinco on left, USGI on right.

Mt m305 has the same, and memorex was .y goto brand for cassette tapes and vhs tapes too lmao, can you link to the post about humps? I'd love to get my m305 a bit more reliable

Which post are you referring to? Not sure how to link posts here.

Remember, I grew up with VCRs ;)

The other fellow, I apologize I'm typing no glasses, mentioned another post, the previous one, if I could get the tag line is search for it, but I'm just curious what I can do to it to get it closer to the Springfield rifles, but not spend alot lol
