Ok when I bore sight my m14 after I have zeroed it to a hundred, I find the crosshairs are high and right on the tasco bore sighter.
When I do it on my M700 it is inline but down a few inches.
Any explanations anyone.is this unusual for an M14? I put it down to irregularities in the receiver.

boresighters don't matter much anyway- it's what you do at the range- my scope and mount won't even pick up the grid on my bushnell- the boresighter is too low when mounted to the bore- it's set for about 1-1.5 inch above the bore and the mount puts it a good couple anyway

The rifle is zeroed at a hundred. It shots out to 900 yards without issue. I'm just curious about the lack of alignment of the scope relative to the bore as indicated by the tasco. Is it indicating that the scope is parallel to the bore?

Hard to say...is the tasco boresighter mandrel going into the bore of the rifle or are you just using the flash hider? If the scope is not parallel to the bore you should see it once you get past 100m. What mount you using?

I was using a m14.ca mount but the scope needed almost 35moa of left adjustment to get on paper. This left me with only 2moa of further adjustment.
I had an old marstar deluxe 3 point aluminium mount around. So I put that on. I got that to zero with no windage adjustment on the scope by pushing the stripper clip dovetail over to the left.
I have a leatherwood on the way as this mount seems designed to adjust for windage/dimensional issues without putting stress on the mount.
