A Japanese scope is probably top notch. Korean scopes are not so good and a Chinese scope is suspect.
Chinese ideas of quality control and following specifications are all over the place.
For a serious hunting trip I would prefer a quality scope. I trust the better grades of Bushnell. We have lots of quality scopes to choose from. Nikon, Pentax, Buris, Redfield, Leopold.
Cheap scopes are weak in the quality (repeatability) of the adjustment turrets and weak in seals. Once a hunting rifle is zeroed, the only concern is the seals. If they fail, the scope is toast.
I use mostly Weaver bases. I can take the scope off with a Loonie and switch to using the irons, which I always zero. If the rifle has no irons, I would prefer a better scope.
FWIW, I avoid see thru rings. I find they put the scope too high for quick aligmewnt as I shoulder the rifle. A friend of mine is a very experienced guide and he at one time also owned small gunstore. He told me the story of a guy who came into the store to buy a hunting rifle. He got some very good advice, which he followed. His son was with him and son insisted see thru rings were best (reads Guns and Blasting, my guess). My friend tried to talk him out of it, but failed. He sold him a safety strap for use in a tree stand.
Six months later he came back to the store to buy a set of regular (low) rings. A deer appeared from behind the tree stand and the irons were used to take a shot almost straight down. The scope was about a half inch from the eyebrow...
